My 4G on Vossen VFS1's
I was able to get my situation figured out and didn't have to sell my wheels after all. So got them mounted today...here's a couple quick pics.
http://s16.postimg.org/jopjq0iut/photo_1.jpg http://s28.postimg.org/926aybep9/photo_2.jpg I'm very happy with them but will be getting different tires a bit wider. I'm running 255's and don't like how stretched it is. One thing though is at about 60mph I get a pretty bad vibration. It's late today so couldn't get balancing redone but hope that takes care of it tomorrow. If anyone has run into that same issue I would appreciate some input. |
Nice rims,looks really good.
I am sure you know this but will mention it in case you didn't,you did install hubcentric rings, right? It would be best if you have road force balancing done, that should take care of all your vibration issues. |
Yeah...centric rings are on. Getting balanced right now, hopefully that takes care of it. If not, is it possible that the stretch on the rear tire is what's causing it?

I doubt that the stretched tires will cause the vibrations. Hunter Road Force balancing should sort out the issues. Our car seems very susceptible to this problem with aftermarket rims. A properly trained tech on that machine will make all the difference. Make sure you use a torque wrench to manually tighten the lugs ( 94 lbs i believe) and not an air gun with a torque limiting extension. Where are you feeling the vibrations?..... in the seats and body usually indicate a problem with the rear wheels whereas feeling it in the steering, the front wheels. |
What are the specs on your rims? Looks good.

255/35 all around?
|
love the rims man! I want a set so bad lol
needs more low! |
thanks lift3d_ ...I'm only lowered on springs but happy with it. Colorado roads are shit so any lower would not be such a good idea.

Wondering if that's part of my vibrations issue I'm having...so frustrating. |

exact same tire specs as me, hope you enjoy it!

Lifted are you running staggered on your AWD as well. Seems like a few of us are. 225/35 seems too small for the AWD since it's front wheel based. I think my 235/30 is still small though my fitment is perfect. Thinking about going 245/35 all around. I need a little more stretch for my rears at 10.5 +25 then the 255/30 I have offers but want that cushion of a 35 series. I never had vibration issues.
|
I like 'em-they look large, but they look good.
|
Where did you get your hubcentric ring from? I believe I have vibration at those speeds due to shitty hubcentric rings.
|
I got mine from discount tire for cheap (Local tire shop). They're just hard plastic but left no play at all.
|
i need those rims

Cause? Stupid a$$ tire shop I went to get my wheels mounted at first. Basically he was having such a hard time and couldn't do it. Had to go to a second place. But the damage had been done. Apparently he tried to use this gooie stuff to make the tire slide onto the wheel. Well, he put in so much on there that there was literally a big ball of goo on my rear tire :whyme: Of course...this was not seen until I bought my second set of tires and that's how I found out about this. No balancing was ever going to take care of it. It was fustrating but you live and you learn. Again, sorry for the late response. |

Glad to hear you went wider in the front. I'm sure it improved your handling.

Looks good amigo... Vossen's #1 on my plate. Wondering how's your AWD system is taking your front 225/35/20 & rear 255/30/20 set up?? Any error codes? Guys on AZ recommend same tires diameter all around. I'm not very pro, just wondering...

Are there any suspension or wheel differences between 2010 and 2012 models?

I just picked up Vossen Vfs2 in Satin Bronze this week, the wheels are the same specs as yours. How much of a stretch do you have on your rear wheel? I was thinking of 275/30/20 fpr the rear. I'm not lowered yet but a set of Tein SA will be going on in the spring with the wheels.
Your car sits nice, did you roll the fenders at all? |
