Erin's Grigio 4G Progress Thread, Staggard Vossen CV3's, Tein S-Tech Springs, Lip Kit
Sup Azine! Would like to introduce myself and start a progress thread for the wifes Grigio 4g. She's already asleep on Christmas Eve Night and there's some huge boxes under and around the tree to start the mods on her 4g. So when I get up tommorow she'll be figureing out whats in the boxes. We're both photographers so this thread will include alot of images from photoshoots with the 4g and the progress of getting the car set up how she wants it. Follow along with the journey.
1st issue with the 4g about 10 days into owning it warrenty replaced the drivers door speaker and sub, now a month later the pass side door speaker is acting up... I guess this is a TL and Accord issue... Okay with that you're caught up on the progress as of 12/25/12 2:14am... yeah kinda lame update... but around noon today some real things should start happening... Stay tuned!

They're coming! Had to do birthday events the day after Christmas for a friends wife so didn't get to play with new toys... Working in the garage today... Will shoot a couple of pics of the stack of boxes... Putting Train horns in a friends truck today and I'll give up one of the Mods on the TL since it's going in today as well... a Nexson Painted Grille gonna go ahead and do it so I can get him his core back... I guess from what he said no one has had him do one like this before so we'll see how it comes out...
Okay here's the boxes for everything in round 1 but the Grille, it's in the house and already unboxed sitting on the dining table... Some good guesses so far... but a couple of extra boxes whatcha seein?

Nope and Nope... The two smaller boxes are a bit more lame than those, She didn't like the roof spoiler so I dropped it off the Xmas List. I dig them, and I'm thinking she'll like it when we finally getting around to seeing one in person... The pics of them just didn't do it for her...
Okay Step 1 of Round one is done... The grille is in we took a little differant approach than anyone else i've seen... tried to get close to the '12 grille without going thru everything Nexson did on his. So we just did the surround and left the beak OEM Brushed Silver. Thanks to Nexson for a kick ass job on the Grille Paint. The train horns took way longer than expected so didn't make it back to the TL after tonight for step 2 it'll come over the next couple of days...

Most deffinatly... I was putting them on a 2012 Silverado with a FabTek Lift and 35's on 22's.
Thanks for covering that one Hogan...
So I test fit the front and rear lip kit while I was playing with the grille yesterday... Nothing fits as well as OEM parts... was kinda impressed how well they line up... and who ever invented the little zip tie mount things those are kinda sweet never seen those done before... Gotta hold off on installing the lip kit till we get a small spot on the bumper fixed that the guy that detailed it at the stealership screwed up when he was blowing it off with an air hose... There was a small spider crack in the paint which wasn't a big deal but he was blowing the water off with an air hose being lazy and not drying it with a chamios and blew some paint off the bumper... so first of the year it's going back to get the bumper touched up (They are paying for it) then I can put the lip kit on... But sooner than that the other two mystery boxes will be going on it...
Okay Drilled the first two holes in the 4G today, Measure twice drill the pilot hole once then step up 4 bits till it's the right size... Step one was to pull the inner carpet cover off the trunk lid. Pulled a couple of push pics and the two rubber strips and folded it down.
Step two was to test fit the spiler and get it centered with the templates taped over the recessed nuts in the underside of it once I got it centered I taped the templates to the trunk and removed the spoiler. now it's time to Center Punch and Drill...
Drilled a small piolet hole then slowly stepped up a size or two at a time till I had the correct size for the bolts... Then Cleaned with Rubbing Alcohol and a Paper Towel to get the surface clean...
Peeled back the 5 strips of 3m 2 sided tape just enough to where the folded out from the edges of the underside. Placed spoiler on and started the two screws to line it up then pulled the rest of the red 3m tape cover off and stuck the spoiler and tightened the two screws and done deal... Then put the inner carpet panel back on and closed the trunk...
One more small box to go before the lip kit, this one isn't so much for looks as it is for the fact her work parking lot is totally insane and the parking spots are too small and there's close to 6000 employees so parking in BFE doesn't even keep your doors safe...

Looks like you are pretty handy yourself!! Lookin' good. Keep in mind that if the paint peeled off that easily with an air gun then most likely it was repainted and can be subject to peel easily in the future. You might just want to bring this up.

Couldn't see any tape lines or signs of paintwork it looks like the previous owner bumped one of the parking poles at a gas station and flexed it hard enough it cracked the paint... but yeah i'll bring up adhesion when I drop it off... was the only dang mark on the car and i honestly thought the lip kit would cover it till i figured out the older version was differant than the '12 i was looking at...

User Error, in the lower right hand corner of each post, the middle icon is a multi-quote button. This allows you to respond to more than one person in a single reply.
Also, it's best to put a single thought/procedure in a single post.
Cheers!

I guess I post too much for Steven If the few posts I've made today upset you I guess we just need to remove the thread cause I'm a post whore... in my openion a single step in a how to needs to be single post along with it's matching instructional photo's. As to your comment on the multi quote I've used it many many times when I "multi-quoted something"... if I quoted one thing and several hours later quoted another your rules within your system do not allow me to edit my posts after 15 minutes...

Teddybear is exactly right! You don't post too much, your thread does not need to be closed either.

Yeah I thought so, for their normal in stock colors it was $117 shipped, I had to buy them Grigio Paint since they had never painted one that color so I had to pay $40 additional. So $157.00 was still way better than the $359 it was gonna cost me at the dealer...
Here for those wanting to see some pics... Here's one from right after Christmas when we were out playing with new photog gear... It was pitch black dark trying to get this shot... Gotta love huge Studio Strobes and Portable Power...

That picture of my truck was shot with a Nikon D5100, with a 35mm 1.8G prime lens. Using two Alienbee's B800's one at camera left with a 22 inch beauty dish undiffused, and a 47 inch Octabox camera right diffused for fill light with a Paul C Buff Vagabond Mini powering the strobes. Both strobes were triggered using Cybersync radio transmitters. All my lighting equipment was also sitting on rail road tracks that were in use so we were dodging trains... I was actually not real happy with the shot. Due to the RR Tracks I couldn't get low enough to give the tough prespective a 4x4 deserves...

Okay got over the funk and got some energy back. Did the hard part today, Pulled the front bumper and drilled it for the front lip kit. Then took the bumper to the stealership to get it repained and the lil impression marks fixed. Got her a loaner car a new MDX and kept hers nestled safely in the garage so I can put the rest of the lip kit on while she's at work Thurs, and maybe Fri if need be. All kinda worked out like a champ just taking them the bumper. They were a bit weirded out by me just showing up with a bumper but it worked out best for me so they can deal with it right? Here's a quick pic (from my cell) of how she's gotta sit for a couple of days till I get the bumper back... Wifey must really like the grille Nexson painted cause it's the only part that went in the house for storage LoL it's sitting on the dining table. Oh yeah and a little word to the wise when you're feeling all great about pulling the bumper cause you did it once and know it's a super fast thing and not big of a deal... remember the two screws in the wheel wells hid behind the inner fender or you'll call yourself stupid when you go to pull the lego snaps and wonder wtf they are so hard this time... Then you remember oh shit two screws wow thats so much easier to unsnap now... So yeah it took me 8 minutes rather than 6 to pull the bumper with the screw up and brain fart.

Update: So IT's a sunny warm day here in FL and i'm outside puttin on the lip kit Currently Taking a Smoke Break! Sides are done, Rear is about half way complete. I've taken a few pics along the way with my cell. Had no help today and i've been way to dirty to pull out the real camera. I'll post up some pics later tonight or tommorow when i'm done. All I have to say is holy intrucive the rear is. Really glad the wife is not home to watch this part. 20 3/8 holes in the bumper then I got to take the die grinder to it... a lil scarey.. but it's coming out good so far... I'd do the install labor on the Front and sides for someone for 100 to 150 bucks... the rear would be a much differant story. I'd say three times the work and had to dig pretty deep in the tool box for the proper tools.
