CBP - CF Wrap Grill

Was bored today and had though about re-painting my 4g grill that I didnt quite paint up to standard. I had seen a 4G CF beak and thought about getting it but wasnt sure if it would look right. I had seen someone wrap a 4.5G grill with CF vinyal so I went to pepboys and spent about $20 on some. Below is the result.

Its wrapped pretty clean all the way to the back of the beak about to the middle of the back. The key is you definitely need 2 people to do this. I tried doing it by myself at first and wasn't making much progress between trying to get the weave to go in the direction I wanted, using a blow dryer to add a little heat and then pulling it to wrap it (a 3rd arm would have been great). My wife came out so I recruited her to use the blow dryer and I pulled.

I'm not sure if it would have came out the way it did without her if at all, it's a lot to do at once with only 2 hands. I know usually you should start from the center but I started from the right and worked my way to the left so I could get a tighter wrap. All in all it took about 30 minutes to wrap it.

Potmilkz I tried to take some pictures of the edges. I don't feel like taking it off right now but here is what I could get with it on. The hardest part was the emblem because of the curves. The top corners were hard also because you need to really stretch it to not leave wrinkles but at the same time you have to be careful to not let the edge put a hole through it.

That's wrapped pretty damn tight if you ask me. Good work. I had the roof of my previous car wrapped in that stuff and can attest to how difficult it is to do properly.

can you take a pic of the center, right where acura logo is, but the bottom side where its pointy..was it wrapped as a hole? or is there a section where it has a visible slit..

I wrapped it as a whole. I started out and just wrapped the entire thing with 1 piece and had covered where the Acura emblem goes. Once I had the whole thing wrapped really tight and basically done I had to move onto the hole where the emblem went. I used a lot of heat around the emblem area to get it to fit the contour with no bubbles then used a razor and made a cross (+) in the center of the hole so it was like 4 pieces (almost like 4 piece of pizza). I would heat each pizza shaped piece and then pulled it behind the grill one by one. The point at the bottom of the grill is perfect.

I'll see if I can take some more pictures tonight.

Looks good! Think I am going to have to get a roll and give it a shot. Might do the trunk as well.

Go for it! You can only lose $20 and an hour of time or so. If you do the rear piece on the trunk get 2 rolls. Unfortunately the 24x48 wasn't enough to do both.

Yea it was a little difficult, luckily my wife was there to help. 2 people is key. Wondering what the roof would look like on the TL or if it would just cross into the territory of too much and come off ricey.

I wouldn't do the roof in CF on a TL. I got that out of my system on my previous car, but then I grew up!

A little bit of CF goes a long way. That said, the darker the car, the less 'in your face' it looks in general. My previous car was a dark graphite grey and it wasn't terribly noticeable on the roof.

The CF looks great...I considered this, but wasn't sure how it would look with CBP.

Now, if you really want to stand out, the 4G beak seems like the perfect place for flames on the TL
