I can guarantee that the sound system setup will be the same with the exception of a larger hard drive and voice recognition. I would suggest waiting to see if you like the new front and see if the price point between a 2012 and 2011 is worth it. Keep in mind that if you buy the 2011 it will take a value dip as soon as the 2012 becomes available. Food for thought.

You are spot on and definately worth waiting a few months to see. If I still want an '11, the '11s will be a bit cheaper... possibly. I certainly want the voice recognition. I have a large library of music and the time it takes to find what I am looking for is a huge distraction while driving.

Thanks for turning on the lights

Fronts: Focal KRX2 biamped and powered by 2 channels from the JL HD600/4 for woofer and 2 channels from the JL 900/5 for the tweeters. The passive crossover is not being used and I'm using 4 channels (channels 1-4) of the MS-8.

Center: Using the midrange speaker from the Focal KRX3 3-way speaker system and powered by 1 channel of the JL HD 900-5 (speaker is not bridged due to its wattage limitation. One channel of the MS-8 (channel 7) is dedicated to the center.

Rears: Focal KRX2 powered by 2 channels of the JL HD 600/4 and two channels of the MS-8 (channels 5 and 6) are dedicated.

Sub: JL 12W2V6 powered by the 1 channel of the JL HD 900/5 and the last channel of the MS-8 (channel 8) is dedicated.

In order to keep voice for NAVI, feedback and bluetooth the center speaker output from the OEM amp has to be connected. I took a motorola speaker from a bluetooth kit and custom (stealth) under the bottom of the driver's side console. I immediately found out that the center speaker would play even when you turn the center volume on the OEM HU to -6 and because of the processing being done by the MS-8 there was a small delay. I fixed this issue by putting an On/Off switch on the driver's side of the center console to allow me to turn that speaker on and off at my discretion. I need to post pics of my final setup but waiting until I complete the changes to the exterior. Feel free to PM me if you want to see pics before they are posted.
ok so i have an 06 tl non nav and im thinking of installing the ms-8 (by the way ultimate caries them and are going out of business check there got one for 450 ) so from what im reading on yours you hooked the center to both the factory amp and the hd900/5? just trying to understand how you did that exactly and what ill need to do.

I am guessing he connected the OEM center to the MS-8 and the new one tot eh OEM amp? I only guess because because the the location of the OEM center is perfect for 5.1... interesting question for sure.

You don't want to connect the center speaker to the MS-8 because the navi-voice and voice commands only come from the center speaker. You only connect the front (L & R) and sub speaker outputs to the MS-8. The MS-8 then sums these signals and simulates 7.1 or 5.1. I replace the center speaker so that I could use the center output on the MS-8 and then I added another speaker and connected it to the OEM amp (it is not connected to the HD amp, the new center is). So the additional speaker handles my voice (connected to the on/off switch) and the Focal 3" center is connected the the MS-8 (also the the HD amp).

The OEM center is gone and replaced with a Focal 3" which is connected to the MS-8 and HD 900/5). I added another speaker which is connected solely to the center of the OEM amp. The new speaker handles on voice commands and nav-voice.

Oops, that is what I meant, the speaker in the location of the OEM center location. That makes sense.

Where did you put new center (the one connected to the OEM amp)? I am guessing you turn off ELS?

The added speaker is located under the drivers dashboard in an open area right above the brake pedal. The install drilled a few holds in the plastic cover to allow more of the sound reach in the cabin. When connecting an MS-8 to the Tech system you lose ELS but believe me you won't miss it one bit.

This is slightly off-topic, but I figure this is the place to find an answer, hopefully. I am not trying to get crazy with speaker install, I just want to upgrade the 8" sub in the rear deck and add an amp to power it, how can I go about doing this?

I had my stereo install shop do them when they mounted the chrome rims.

Very tastefully done Brew. Have you considered a debadge? At least, remove the ACURA on the left and move the SH-AWD badge to it's place.

They are. It's the sunlight that makes them seem like they aren't.

First of all, your car is beautiful

Do all the trunk badges come right off? I have an SH and agree that it's too busy back there.

Nicely done man... As everyone has already stated, its a really clean look. I never thought I would ever say this, but the chrome wheels actually look good!! Are you entertaining the idea of a subtle drop? I think it would complete the look

Very nice 4G TL. May I ask who did your stereo and sub install. I live in MD and would love to have them install my audio equipment. You can reply in PM if you would like. Thanks

I am considering purchasing another "TL" and SHAWD" emblem and moving the TL to where ACURA is and moving SHAWD to the TL location.
Thoughts? I don't like the full de-badge look.
