Thanks for all the compliments!!
As for the opening, you don't see it unless your under the grille, looking, but anyways I may plan on adding the grille inserts from the 2012 which would effectively hide that gap, but in all honetly, you just don't see it.

Thanks for the compliments, I put another five hours in, to total me off at 15 hrs so far. Nothing to show worth posting, just blocking everything out and cleaning up corners

Showed the wife and she called it a transformer. I love it.

You have done what no one else could do. I think your grill will become very popular. If you plan to sell it, work fast because if you don't, someone else will. This is without a doubt the best grill extant.

Just thinking outside the box, if I didn't try, i would never know! I have 15 hours so far into it, and expect about 10-14=5 more.

^^ Not if you get their first. Just do some research into mass producing poly urethane products. All you need to produce is the main body that you fabricated because the middle part can be bought through the dealer i.e. '12 shield. You have the grille already made, why not indulge further and get batch of 10~15 made, start a group buy to see if there is any interest so there is least amount of money out of your own pocket.
Additionally, since you can paint the grilles like no body's business there would additional revenue in it for you .
DO IT!!!!

BTW you can file for a patent as well , its much easier than you think.
Do some research on how to file for a patent as there is tons available online, file for a patent first then go from there into finding out as to how much it will be to get a batch of 10 or so produced at a time. First batch will be pricey as the manufacturer would have to make molds etc but from there on it would be cheap to get a second or third batch.
In all seriousness you have a winner at your hand, not only here but I know for a fact that if you were to open a listing on ebay you will surely sell tons of these .
BTW PM me as I know a few people who can replicate any product for mass production through manufacturers in China/Taiwan.

Agreed you need to see how it holds up. Can't wait to see the finished product. Your definitley onto something my freind.

So between the last update and this one I have done alot of house keeping, cleaning up edges and make sure everything fits nicely. For whatever reason the ends where the grille meets the headlights, had like a .50 gap. Anyways I took care of it by extending the sides to meet up with the headlights.
I followed the grille up with epoxy primer (for superior adhesion and rock chip resistance) then gave it a couple of coats of 2k urethane.

2016 Acura TLX
Honestly, I didn't think it could be done but I stand corrected. That looks amazing and very unique. Did this end up being cheaper than the full 2012 conversion with the bumper and all?

haha, stay patient, it needs to be perfect for paint. I need to allow a day or so for the primer to shrink, so that I do not have sanding scratches in paint job. It will be painted by Friday
Well, I think it is cheaper then the 2012 by a long show once you figure in the bumper, all the assesories for the lower lamps, the actual grille itself, then paint. The 2012 parts could be anywhere from around 2kto 2,5k
All you need for this is just two grilles which can be found on ebay which makes this cost effective. I can say though that the 2012 top painted part was $130, and the OEM 2012 shield was $96, the rest of the parts can possibly be found one bay

Keep up the good work, my friend. When you're done, it would be great to see before and after pictures, side by side.
