2013 TL BWP SH-AWD 6MT Progress Thread

Hey rx2010, I did it myself with the help of the DIY instructions I downloaded that you can download here: http://estore.honda.com/acura/access...L&modelName=TL
From a scale of 1-10 with 10 being the hardest, I'd give it a 5. All you really need is a drill, socket wrench and screw drivers and follow the instructions carefully. Some of the other stuff they have listed you do not necessarily need. It's a little nerve wracking drilling holes in the bumper though so don't screw up ( no pun intended )! Be careful not to scratch or scuff the paint so take your time and it will help if you had an assistant to remove and install the bumpers. I managed to do it without one and the most time consuming and challenging piece is the front bumper. It is heavier and there are a lot more screws and clips involved. I preferably would not want the dealer to install it for me because they might not do it the right way or miss/break something I wouldn't know about. I trust my own work more and obviously doing it yourself will save you money for other mods!

Search for and PM member :AckTL05 he's a member and vendor here and can get it for much cheaper than 989. It takes a day for him to reply back to you but it's worth it. He apparently is very busy. The kit you found on ebay is from Curry Acura and coincidently that is where he works too lol. Labor on this install is just ludicrous. SMH.

Thanks! I agree sunset or sunrise are the best times to take pics.

TeamAcura...Amazing looking TL!!! I love the fact you raised Bella a bit, she was riding a little too low for my liking initially, but now, she looks amazing! I loved your photos showing the entire body kit and you ALMOST had me regret not having placed the rear piece until you showed the last two pics. To me, that view of the kit is where things break down for me, no offense. Don't get me wrong, on 85-90% of the viewing angle, the car will look amazing but having people following me on the highway and seeing that view would not be something I'd be comfortable....but that is me.
Regardless, the important thing is that you love your TL and trust me, she is a GORGEOUS ride and I am envious of the MT....I sometime wished I would have gone that route. Look forward to seeing where you will take Bella in the future, but you are off to a great start

That said, TA, your car looks sexy and again congrats on your new ride.

Very nice. Wasn't feeling the initial drop on OEM wheels, but it's great where you have it now. Time for a roof spoiler.
Enjoy!
Enjoy!

Hey TA, got a question for you on the Tein coilovers. Since you owned them for close to 2 months now, what is your verdict on them? Also when you were slam, how was the ride? Did it bottomed out on large dips, etc..
Btw, cars looking a lot better now that you raised her up a little

When I was slammed, ride was about the same as I mentioned above. And it never bottomed out, the shocks do an awesome job absorbing everything you throw at it. Truly a top notch suspension system.
I will add that changing to a stiffer damping rate actually smoothed out the ride. Bumps and little potholes are not harsh as I had them initially. I went from 9 clicks and 11 clicks from stiffest front and rear to 6 and 8 and what a difference it made. I might try 4 and 6 to see how it feels but so far 6 and 8 is working for me at the moment. I plan on buying the new EDFC in a few months to really play around w/ the settings.
Hope I answered all your questions.

You will need a ball joint press set to pop it out and in and can be rented from Advance Auto or Autozone. Ingalls has instructions for the rest and it's straight forward. It will save you at least $150 worth of labor.

Quick bump on my progress. So this is the last time Bella will look like this because in the very near future she will be getting new shoes! I narrowed it down to couple of styles and finishes. Still undecided on the finish though. I need some input guys, gunmetal or silver??? The tint will be removed BTW, I moved to a state with a no tint law.
And these bad boys came in last night...

I've already decided and made my purchase lol. Pics to come very soon. Just the wheels though as I didn't buy tires yet. It will be another month or so before it's on Bella. I have a few things to do before I can put on the new wheels.
Thanks Bill, yes Acura of Peabody have been great to deal with. I'd do business with them again.

Here's a sneak peek of my wheels that finally came in last night. Looks sweet in person. I love the finish on these. Looks gunmetal in certain angles and lighting and the machine finish shows nicely when light or sun reflects it. It will be a nice contrast to Bella. And the concave is deep!!! Originally I wanted dish or lip but my budget wouldn't allow lol. This will do for now though. Bella needs new shoes this year! Gotta detail her soon too.

Pretty much but for about half the price and I found the finish I was looking for too. The Vossens have an inner lip in the barrel. That's the only difference I see.
I also weighed it too and it came in at 29.1lbs. Not too bad for a 20x10.5 wheel. I was hoping for 27lbs but wishful thinking.

LOL...cannot beat the price and the quality on them looks excellent. 245/35; what width and offset did you go with? And what color is your 4G?
