2010 CBP SH-AWD Tech Pictures

Hi,

Finally got my tints done today. Wanted to post the pics right away

The recommendation from this forum to go with 35% tint was perfect.

I think it looks really good! Love how everything (the tint, the rims, etc.) works so well together!

Thanks everyone. I have yellow film to put on my fogs and then the next project would be the grille. Not sure on what to do. I want to keep the car looking OEM as much as possible and with the headlights tinted, the standard grille looks better. Current idea is to paint it CBP or if I can figure it out, paint it in a darker (but not CBP) matte finish (satin or powder coat) to give an accent. People have any thoughts or suggestioins? Open to hear ideas.

They are 19". I personally think it's the perfect size for the 4G TL.

Lookin good. How is the light output at night with the headlights tinted?

I still havent got around to doing my grill yet, but as soon as I do Ill let you know

have you thought about blackhousing your headlights as opposed to tinting them?

Yeah the headlights are good. There is not much loss in output. But thinking more about the black-housing option as it seems to be a less illegal than the tint!

And yes keep me posted on the grill. That's the next big thing.

From a cost point of view, $50 to tint? Thats got to be cheaper than doing the black-housing and totally reversible. Personally I would now go for the tint rather than gunsmoke as its dark enough to draw attention. Being up in San Francisco that's something I want to avoid. What is it like down your end of CA?

Black house headlights was free for me since i already had the paint in my garage.

Im confused by the tint/gunsmoke comment. Did you tint your headlights or have them sprayed?

Oh very nice. Is it easily removable and install again or is it a one time application. Tail light and headlight tint are illegal over here but I have had my tail lights tinted for a while and have never been harassed by cops.

Why didnt you tint the driver and passenger front windows?

Its a one time deal. For the same reason I have concerns about the headlight tint. Having them tinted and the front windows tinted which is also illegal in CA is asking for trouble... I am trying to not draw attention from the cops!

I have the windows tinted and normally I just drive by cops and havent been pulled over yet. Occasionally, i will roll the front windows down to avoid any possible cop involvement.

You know why I think this is working so well? I just looked at your car again and I think that the tinted front lights basically hides the fact that the front lights don't line up with the plenum grille. So you have the grille, which is surrounded by the tinted front lights which now blend in beautifully with the CBP paint. That's it!!!

What are you gonna do to the grille? Leave it alone - it looks darn good right now!

nice tint job! where'd you get it done?

I recently got a 3G TL and plan on tinting. I heard Tint Werks in Pleasanton is pretty legit, but im still shopping around different stores at the moment.

I looked at that place too. Didn't go there in the end so could not comment. Since I work downtown SF, I went to Auto Tech Tinting (link) which is located on Jessie St & Clara St. Vincent took care of me and did a great job.

Tinting in Oregon is restricted to 35% (must allow more than 35% of light in) on all windows, can only be a max. 13% reflective, and, of course, not red, green, or amber in color. I had my Speed6 windows at 35 and it looks hot without being too dark. I think in California you can make the back windows as dark as you want but the fronts must be 70%, which means you could still tint them darker than factory.

Yeah now that I've had mine tinted for a month, I see sooo many cars that have the front done. So planning to go back to get the front done too... Also I took off the lamin-x coz it was too dark. Thinking about something lighter...

your rear tints arent too dark. I like it thought. I dont like rear tints being so dark you cant see the light of day.

yea, i still plan on getting my front and rear windows tinted, but i'm still not sure which vendor to go.
