Sprint Booster

Ive always considered getting this for previous Hondas but never got around to it. Has anyone tried it on their tl and if so have you noticed a difference? I know the prduct and read all the positive and negative hype. Looking for a real world experience vs debate.

Not true, I have it for my TL, although I don't use it anymore, I felt like the pedal response was too sensitive while using it.

The application chart in the Sprint Booster web is not showing anything for any TL models.

Would you kindly show me where ?

Seems like an awful lot of money for what is effectively taking the slack out of a throttle cable in an electronic sense.

Yup. As a kid I would tighten the throttle cable on my many previous Hondas without Dbw and always found it to be cheap entertainment. Back then I would Do a bunch of stuff to cars but now I really don't do anything to them now that I can afford the cars that produce the power I like. But power in a car is like a cotton shirt (or a big screen tv Come to think of it), it shrinks over time. So little adverts like this thing are the next evolution for cheap and fun power (even if just the feeling). The are many non Acura forums that have the same debate and those with it swear by it and those without out it scoff.

So if you have it or have had it , impressions?

Sounds interesting... there is definately a bit of delay, I wouldn't mind remedying that.

Edit:

"Sprint Booster does not reduce your 0-60mph times."

If it reduces the throttle delay how does it not improve acceleration/0-60?

Just like tightening the cable will not better 0-60 neither will thus. Surf around a bit and see what u think. Almost everyone who has tried it kept it. The rest are pretty much nay Sayers. A few who have purchased it eventually sold it. I think I'll try it.

As someone who's burned up a clutch, and broken knuckles on high HP FF Hondas, I'd say this "delay" is there for a reason. Throttle is plenty responsive in S mode and paddle shifting; the weak spot is the gear changes.

Now if only there were a shift kit...

Well I went and they have it. It's jrp in Mississauga Ontario Canada. They are the sole distributors. Sean was informative but ultimately they have not tested on a 2012 and talked through the potential issues. Six speed tranny change is one of the potential problems and a blown out pedal. It's because they would be using the 09-11 on it. They offered reassurance that it probably would not be a problem and if it was they would remove like it was never there and tow it to the dealer but I opted to wait to have some other owner test it out on the 2012. They said he difference was night and day. They advised what the product does is make peak up available earlier, but no up gains. So if we have 305 hp at 6400 rpm it would be for example 305 hp at 5400 rpm which means that the throttle is made open and therefore fuel at a much steeper curve then stock. They advised that everyone who tries it keeps it. I'll wait and check back with them to see if someone else tested their car before I do. Too bad, sounds pretty neat and I want to try it.

Yea, I have only had it for a couple of days and when I have it set to Power 5 I don't have any throttle delay. I barely have to tap the pedal to get it to go. It also has an Economy setting to help with gas mileage that I'm using now to figure out if it helps or not.

That's my fault dude, I don't know how I missed that. When I search it manually, under electronics, it shows. So I assumed he still has it, but guess not.

Weapon r? Curious. Is there a 2012 app? Whereabouts/how much/install easy?

Oh yeah the jrp guy says the sprint booster website will be updated bc it should read that the 09-11 tl is available. Its actually the same part they say as the tsx.

I got it from throwdown performance for $148.The install is plug and play if you use the ODB2 port, but I removed the connector and manual wired it to the fuse panel.

Dyrt can you post pictures of how/where you had the settings unit installed.

A friend has weapon r I throttle installed in his 8th gen v6 coupe accord, I'm going to drive it a bit in stock mode, high eco and most aggressive performance mode. I'll tell you guys what I think then and whether or not I think it's worth buying;friend says its the best 150 he's ever spent.

I used velcro so I can hide it when I take it to the dealer. The button next to my VSA is a modified smart plug for my old radar detector before I upgraded to a Valentine 1.

I'm going to Jersey on Thursday and will be installing my lightweight pulley then. I'll ask Peter to stop by so I can test it out on his accord.

Throttle

Hi fellows, I just joined about 30 minutes ago, so I could get some insight on a sprint booster. I've had my 07 TL for 6 years and have decided to keep it a little longer; maybe give it to my son next year when he's 16. I've also decided to update it mechanically and estheticly in the interim. I see most of you drive newer TLs and Sprint Booster told me they've discontinued the application for my car because of "problems" - I think due to where it's installed under the hood. Can anyone tell me if there's a work around for my vehicle?

Appreciate it.
