Exclamation Sleeved or Built J37?

I wanted to check here hoping I won't have to join other Honda forums. A few questions regarding the J37A4:

Has anyone sleeved this block (I'm aware that the cylinders are near the limit and have Nikasil liners)? If sleeved would it have to run a smaller piston?

If this block can't be sleeved, would any other J-Series engines bolt directly to the stock 4G 6 m/t without adapters? Would another engine be compatible (electronically) with the sh-awd?

I ask because I'm considering building a block for a forced induction application.

That stuff is certainly above my experience level. I hope one day to tear down and rebuild an engine but that day hasn't come yet.

There have been a small handful of folks on here who might know, but I haven't seem most of them in a while. I'd probably consider posting the question on other forums as well. You might get more info elsewhere.

I would have probably had better luck asking the same questions in the 3G section.

Yes, I had a J37A1 sleeved recently. Not sure whose sleeve was actually inserted, sent block to a well known guy in Idaho. Used stock size piston diameter but installed forged JE. JE piston does not have a relief cut on the skirt btw, will hit your oil squirter unless a shim is added.

The liners are NOT Nikasil. Nikasil is a platting used by some manufacturers. The 3.7 has high silicon aluminum liners without any plating.

I think the sleeves inserted in my block are ductile iron but not sure. It's not cheap anyway, $2000+

Took to the dyno a couple months ago with a list of all construction details and told them I was shooting for 500whp. Tuner looked at me like I was nuts and said "that should be no problem, come back when you want some real hp." Sure enough, 4 pulls and we were up over 500. Stopped there, ran out of injector flow... which was fine w me. Injectors are out of a Nissan GTR. Custom ones can be made for about $600 which should put hp 600+ Fun!!

looks like he did a twin turbo setup in a sand rail buggy thing (not sure of the word for it) and some other customs stuff on a J37! Would love to know what the specs are 3.7dude!

We all start somewhere arileon1 These motors are quite common in sandrails, light, good torque and tough. Guys beat the heck out of stock engines with 7psi boost, av gas and stock computers. They push 400hp... at the crank I think. No internal component modifications anyway.

This one had a bunch of money thrown at it:
2007 Acura 3.7 MDX original engine, 80K miles maybe
Sleeved block, Bensen Machine, no dowels or closed deck
Pauter rods
JE 10:1 pistons
Largest clearance bearings Honda offers for rod and main
Balanced
Heads, hand lapped valves and cleaned, 20% stiffer springs, titanium retainers, new cotters, new stem seals
ARP head bolts, stock gaskets
New timing belt, new water pump, reused oil pump
Cleaned, tested VTEC assembly
10w-30 oil (not sure about running stock 5-20 oil with boost)
Precision 46mm waste gates, low pressure spring not sure which guessing 3-4 psi
Tial BOV brown spring 23in hg
Precision turbos 5531 T3 .63 AR
Denso injectors, connector on injector is filed down to fit Honda plug
(Nissan GT-R 2009-2016, part number 16600-JF00A 14002 AN001)
AEM Series 2
NKG BKR7E spark plugs
Pierburg 7.21659.12 (7.21659.72) fuel pump
120/premium fuel, 50/50 mix
Kennedy double 9" clutch
Flipped intake and runners 180 degrees and plugged all EGR ports
Just under 14psi boost
