Recommend a NoS kit on my '09 Acura TL w/Tech package

Considering putting in NoS as a first upgrade/mod to my Acura TL. Has anyone done this before? Do you recommend it if so?

these motors are already high strung...without the proper watchdogs in place, you'll blow the motor.
plus, you do not seem mechanically inclined....why start off with something very technical?

I already gave you a list of mods that you can do.

you can do a jpipe. about 400
you can do a cat back. 700-1000
you can do an air intake - 300
you can do pre-cat deletes(being developed i believe) about 400

weight reduction is free.
rerouting the coolant lines is free.

OP:

Start HERE

I highly suggest you educate yourself on the inter workings of an internal combustion engine. Read, read, and read on this site. There is a ton of information out there. Soak it up.

Your the same guy that over the last few days that has brought the doubius fuel thread:

OP, where are you located, and how old are you?

If you "don't want to race it"

Then why bring up this thread?

Do you recommend any shops in the LA / OC area?

hi eazyrider562, this is off topic, but is it possible that you make 1 thread with all your questions in it, instead of 9+ individual threads (just in the first page) each asking 1 question?

your asking questions that can be easily searched / answered.

To a degree we've answered your questions and you want a "quick fixes"...

IDK what to tell ya man. You can't expect to be spoon fed everything.

Regarding meets / whatnot in SoCal -- your in luck:

Yes, of course it is. Feel free to ask as many questions as you want and we will try to help you. However i'll ask you what you would do in this situation.

You are responsible for interviewing someone for a position in your company. Your HR staff compiled a list of 10 questions for you to ask him during the interview. Do you:
a) Make 10 appointments on 10 different days and ask him 1 question each time?
or
b) Make 1 appointment with him and ask him all 10 of the questions during that 1 appointment?

I'm not trying to be a dick, just wondering what your train of thought is.

Installing a J pipe, exhaust or high flow cat may add a few hp but will rob quite a bit of torque, seen it many times with my CL and TL...This will hurt overall performance rather than help, this also includes the intake in some cases.
The back pressure and torque are critical to overall performance, many guys think they can put high flow exhaust items on their car and it will increase performance when really all it does is rob power and make the car louder.
That's part of the reason I always stuck with Comptech was that their parts were dyno tested and designed specifically for our cars to slightly increase HP without robbing torque.
I've been there and dyno tested many products that didn't perform as advertised, the J Pipe and high flow cat being a couple of examples that did nothing to add anything significant.
On a turbocharged or supercharged vehicle the above mods can improve performance but not on a stock vehicle, an intake might be the only bolt on worth considering in trying to improve performance as there just isn't much out there anymore in the way of quality mods for the most recent Acura models.
Buy a different car if you are looking for more performance...The recent generations of Acura's aren't mod friendly.

^i did not lose any torque at all. I gained torque with pre-cat-deletes and jpipe.

Justin(2006 6MT TL with PCD's and Jpipe) vs stock 2005 6MT TL.

I'm confused, which is the stock run?
How much HP was actually gained vs stock?

I didnt do a stock run.

but my buddy has a stock car.
18 more pounds of torque than he does.
we did the runs on the same day.

also, the engine has always been high strung, i never enjoyed normal driving....at 2k
once i got the PCD's I LOVE 2k RPM!!!!!!!

you can dispute but I know I gained with these 2 mods.

You didn't do a stock run but you know you gained with these mods?
How would you know anything without a direct comparison between the two under similar conditions?
I think you mind is playing tricks on you my friend but I'm glad you beleive there was a benefit, LOL....
I mean gimme' a break, you don't know anything for sure unless you have a direct comparison, you know how many times I've heard people say that only to find out they were completely wrong....

I hate to sound like I'm ripping on you but come on...Spend and extra $80-$100 and perform a stock run before you ever add anything, otherwise you are throwing your money away on things that could be meaningless.
I've dyno tested every part on my car including the ones I no longer have as a result, thats the only way to know anything...

I know not getting a base read is my flaw.
the car does pull away from the stock car, tho.

I know how to read a dyno but do you? Not times at the bottom but numbers....
The most hilarious part of this is that he is comparing his modded car to a friend's stock car, there's no proof of any gaines by doing this, I mean really?
I've done dozens of dyno runs on stock TL's and CL's and seen differences of as much as 15HP when comparing two cars which were completely stock, not every car out of the factory is going to run identically on the dyno my friend, far from it depending on the car.
My CL ran 210 completely stock, I've seen other stock CL's run at 195, 200, 205, etc...
They are all different.....
Anyway, I guess it really doesn't matter either way as you guys are going to believe what you like, anyone who spends money on a mod will automatically believe that they are gaing something.

Do you recommend adding NoS to a 4th generation?

I found online a really good deal for a NoS system and I'm thinking about adding it to my 4G.

Has anyone else tried this? If so, how much HP do you get when you hit that switch? Worth the money.

I'm prettty much sold on getting this system so I'll be smoking fools on a daily basis.

Thanks in advance!

first things first, do you know anything about motors?

im not talking about intakes and exhaust pipes and such. more like dynamics of how it works, crankshafts, rods, pistons, valva train, retainers, bottom end, top end, etc

Secondly, what kind of kit is it? there are 3 types.

if its not done properly, you can blow your motor right when you press that nos button.

Lastly, you cant just bolt on nos on stock car, it requires new colder spark plugs, reprogrammed ecu, bigger exhaust pipes, larger fuel pump, higher octane gas, etc.

I don't know about engines that well but my buddy said it's pretty easy to get the NoS system installed and can get it all for about $1500. Which sounds reasonable.

^being truthfully honest; you will blow your engine.

you need to learn the basics of engines and motors and how they work.
if not, you will blow your motor.

i didn't know that.

well my point is, if i blow my motor, i have an extended warrantee, acura will fix it! you never thought about that, did ya?

i figure with the warrantee still into place, its worth a try.
