Newest Takeda SRI driver!

Just had my intake installed this morning, and everyone was right- low end torque seems better. Normal driving car sounds the same, but stomp on the gas and it sounds awesome, love this thing!

Have any of you noticed a decrease in mpg's? I read somewhere that the car runs too "rich" with an intake and you lose mpgs

As a Takeda intake owner, I'd say that is false. I've actually noticed a slight gain in MPG's.

My observed MPG's....

Factory Highway MPG's = 26.2MPG
+ Excelerate J-Pipe = 27.8MPG
+ Takeda and Excelerate 3rd Cat delete = 29.0MPG

Has anyone actually dyno'd their car with this intake? $250 is a lot of money for awsome sounds.

Thanks prepreludesh! I was debating whether I should buy a Takeda SRI and once I read that, it kind of deterred me seeing how gas is already $4.25/gal. Now I want one.

My gas mileage seemed to have gone up , when I drive like I got sense. I think some have a decrease in mileage because its fun to stomp on it. To, me the sound is even worth the money. When a Caddy CTS tried to mess with me at a light, you should have seen the look on his face with he heard that intake! He looked shocked. And yes, I out accelerated that Caddy. it was neck and neck till the Vtec kicked in. At that point, no contest. The guy rolled down the window and ask me what does that thing have under the hood. Priceless

Yeah I know what you mean, when I put in the AEM CAI in my Accord, I would decrease my mileage when I pushed it hard. But what I read was that because the car is taking in more air, the fuel and air mix was "richer" therefore decreasing mpg's.

With computer controlled cars, I'm not so sure its that simple anymore. like I said, I saw an increase in my mileage.

Well you're the 2nd person to say that they increased their mpg's so now I'm really thinking about getting it. Thanks for the input.

I know the I run the risk of sounding LAME...but I just installed my intake last night (by myself). This is big for me because I know more about cars conceptually than I do actually working on them. Took me 2 1/2 hours but I love this thing!!! Couldn't be anymore happier!!! Next up...J pipe! :-)

The only PITA thing on the install is getting the cooling line off the back side of the throttle neck - other than that - it's cake.

I'm on an AWD - and I don't really notice much of a power difference - but it SOUNDS more responsive.

The MPG - I do believe it helps with. In a metered 90 miles of driving - 5 or 6 miles of stoplights and the rest x-way, I averaged 29 mpg, which is normally more like 24-25. If this holds true - I think you can expect to get another 30 miles to the tank if you can keep your foot out of it.
