Magnaflows 11225

I have a 2012 Acura TL Elite SH-AWD and just installed the Magnaflows 11225 and it sounds good but still a little quite. I did a muffler delete and hated the drone in the car when on the highway. So I ordered these magnaflows and it got rid of the drone. Im thinking about getting rid of the resonators. If I remove them will the drone come back and how much louder will it be? I have all my cats and magnaflow muffler jsut was thinking about taking out both resonators.

Don’t do it. It will drone like hell and be raspy on the top end. If you really want more volume I’d go with a different muffler or even a cat back system. You have to give the magnaflows a bit of time to break in though, they’ll get slightly louder.

Would also doing the J pipe make it a bit louder without drone?

J-pipe will definitely give you a bit more exhaust tone. The high flow cats will give you more volume too, if you’re willing to do that.

Which muffler would give it more volume and without drone? Would both of these j pipe make it louder?

I can't comment on the mufflers, the 11225 was the only muffler I used. Both j-pipes are similar really, I went with the XLR8 one. They're easy to install, the only issue is that it can be hard to get some of the bolts off so you'll want some penetrating oil and an impact wrench.

Both those j pipes will add some sound but not much. The rv6 maybe slightly more due to the larger (3 inch vs 2.75) exit. But it sounds like you should have gone with a cat back exhaust from the beginning.

I have HFPC's, the XLR8 J-pipe and the 1125 mufflers. Sounds great. I definitely wouldn't consider removing any resonators or the mid muffler at this point. I'm certain it would cause drone or rasp based on how it sounds now.

Did you have the hfpcs & j-pipe then add the mufflers? If so how did the sound change? Im still thinking of adding these mufflers or maybe a cat back. But i want to be careful, last thing i want is to change the exhaust and not like the sound.

Yes. The magnaflows admittedly added a slight bit of drone but also lowered the exhaust note just the right amount which was well worth the trade IMO. The drone is very minor. Possibly slightly annoying to some when the engine is under load at low RPM's. Really it's the same as if a larger V8 was under load at lower RPM's - sort of a lower growl. Sounds especially good at idle and no rasp whatsoever at any RPM's. I personally like the slight amount of drone during cruising since it's a good indicator of engine load. The tone is high enough that it's really not a problem. It's not like some of these setups that resonate low enough to seem like you've got a subwoofer with a short circuit in the trunk.

I was never quite able to get my 3G TL to sound exactly how I wanted it. I experimented with resonators and cat-back systems and eventually settled with a setup that worked (plus it was getting expensive to switch things around). I consider myself lucky that I was able to get exactly what I wanted the first time with the 4G.

I think I went through 3 different resonator setups before I was able to take care of most of the drone. Ended up using a big Magnaflow canister and a Vibrant ultra-quiet, and even that could have used another Vibrant. The OE engineers aren’t dumb.
