Did you notice anything with the drop in? I've seen a lot of people doing it.

Glad to hear you found a difference with the base tune without any mods other than the muffler. I am thinking of ktune as well sometime in future. I had been looking at jpipe (I might still do that at some point as well), but it seems like the ktune on its own might be almost as good as ktune as jpipe. TBH I got lost in the dyno posts because I thought it looked like the ktune+jpipe combo was giving some nice addititive gains when i looked at the dynos earlier in the thread but other have looked at the dynos and not noticed much advantage to the combo.

A question for those in colder climates...any issues with using the tunes in winter?

Okay, mines still at 4760, where the Tune 1 put it at. It's a lot smoother transition to VTEC now that it's tuned. Man, I'm so ready to get my other parts in..

There is a few guys in Toronto that has been running it with no issues. Matter of fact seems like gas milage went u with it. And the best gains is HFPC/PCD and Ktuner.. doing those two with the jpipe and custom tune is optimal.

i was gonna ask the same thing! The numbers look pretty nice.
BTW can anyone lead me to a stock awd+ktuner dyno. I can't seem to find one.

Any issues with the pulley? I've been thinking of eventually getting the xlr8 one or a stock j37 one, since it's already a bit lighter than the one on the j35.

Does anyone have any clue about drive line power loss on the AWDs? I can't see there being much of a difference power wise between the fwd and awd with what I imagine are higher losses.

I'll assume they disconnected the drive shaft to do FWD pulls?

Hi,

Bought a car from a dealer about a month or so, it's a 2013 TL SH-AWD 6MT with Takeda Intake and CT-E Axle Back Exhaust. Told me the previous owner got it tuned, never really believed him since i had no proof, but the car does pull off a lot. By reading the post in this thread, i start to believe it was really tuned by a Ktuner since my max rev is 7100RPM and i have no speed limiter, so far i pulled 225KMH (140MH) in 5th gear @5000RPM (so still 2100RPM to go and 6th gear), laid off the gas but the car def wanted more, its hungry, could prolly go over what the max limit is written in the dash. Anyways still can't figure if it was a custom or just a base map, also have no dyno numbers and since i want to put in a custom X PIPE configuration, i ll have to get it tuned again anyways... Any other obvious clues i could look for to know what has been tuned ? What Ktuner base tunes actually covers ?

A 2013 with a CT-E exhaust? interesting,,,, you luck up. And my 6 speed 2011 not fully tuned yet redlines at 130mph (209KM) in 4th gear with 4 pulls Etuning down in Mexico. So in my opinion I'll say other wise. And having that ram intake it is recommend to have it custom tune. The base maps for ktuner even says so. Also if your getting all other bolt ons you might as well get the Ktuner and tune it right.

My point was the fact that i can hit 140MPH and up, speed limiter was removed so some tuning must of been done using Ktuner, was it enough, i don't know and yes like you said, after putting my custom X PIPE exhaust (depending on the quote) and by that i mean fully opened from top to bottom 3", will def get a Ktuner and have tuned. When you say you redline in 4th at 130MPH, are you saying the car won't go above that or you re just letting it go, because i def hit that speed in 4th gear since im not even near redline at 140MPH in 5TH gear. What mods do you have right now and what whp were u hitting during your tune up ?

Thank you for your input.

Justin

I'm still in the Etuning process.. I'm just a firm believer in E tuning first then dyno tune after. I don't know whats the speed limiter is on the car but Ktuner only this year removed the speed limiter on this platform. And "When you say you redline in 4th at 130MPH, are you saying the car won't go above" meaning I have to shift to 5th gear to keep climbing. Basically I can hit 130mph in 4th gear before reline or topping out in that gear. HFPC/J-pipe and K&N drop in filter.

I'm not saying I don't believe you, but whats odd about that is ktuner binds to one ECU, meaning for the previous owner to reuse or sell the unit he or she must unpair it from the TL, which reverts the vehicle to a stock map. Maybe you REALLY lucked out and he/she forgot to do that? BTW cherish that CT-E axle back, i've been trying to get a hold of one for months and havent been able to. Any pics of your rear?

is that true - when you unpair it, it puts the stock map back? You can't keep a tune and unpair?

The guys was a old man who bought this car for his 50th birthday and wanted something powerfull, he paid for mods but prolly didnt care for the rest, trying to get a hold of him since i'm pretty sure he still does have the Ktuner and it's prolly just sleeping there because he doesn't know what the hell to do with it... anyway i will end up buying a Ktuner for myself anyways (if i can't get a hold of him) considering all the mods i'll be adding. I will get a picture of my rear and post it later This exhaust looks good have a great sound, so deep and clean !

It's temperamental. Unfortunately ktuner is missing a few lines of code to run cams properly so sometimes my car is running 100%, 0 lights on the dash, and fast as hell. Sometimes, my dash looks like a christmas tree, yet everything runs well, other times I'll have a code or two go off and its tedious to drive and lastly but nothing new to me now, the car will just about be unbearable with a 3k rpm limit until I shut her on/off. What I just said may sound more negative than positive, but that doesn't reflect how I feel. There's disappointment, BUTTTT overall my car hauls and feels amazing to drive.

What code is it? Currently a dealer has submitted for knock sensitivity, but I have nothing else on the docket.

Can you guys elaborate? If you upload once and upload the same thing again, nothing changed vs the first time. Not catching what you're saying, unfortunately.

What code is it? Currently a dealer has submitted for knock sensitivity, but I have nothing else on the docket.
I ran into some difficulties during the drive-ability/street tune portion of my dyno tune with Derek. A 3k rpm limit would periodically kick in. What I understood from what he told me was that he would be sending you a datalog to see if you could diagnose the problem in the ecu and hopefully address it with ktuner software. Maybe I misunderstood? Or maybe as a layman I'm doing a poor job of explaining the situation.

Can you guys elaborate? If you upload once and upload the same thing again, nothing changed vs the first time. Not catching what you're saying, unfortunately.
I kept getting a code for EGR and P0420 and P0430, called Ktunner and they emailed and updated program, if u are getting knock sensor codes u may either have a bad Knock sensor, timing is set to high or needs more fuel, and Im hoping you are running 93 octane

HFPC or PCD

Is there any truth to what I have been reading on social media and a few threads regarding issues/failures with the HFPC?
If you choose to go PCD your literally unable to pass emissions so how is that even an option in most states?

Ktuner indeed seems very promising, hope to pick one up soon.

I just came back to say that this car pulls like a bat out of hell after the tune! I have been driving it pretty mellow, but today I gave it the beans for a bit. At about 5500RPM it just PULLS all the way to 7100RPM. It pulls so much harder than before up high that it feels like a totally different car.

I also went for a road trip this summer, took some out of nowhere country roads. Top speed... well past the gauge max of 240 kph. I am guessing I hit 250 (155 mph). Car is NOT designed for that! The wind buffeting was a little bit much, probably the last time I ever go that fast in this thing! It is fine at about 220, but any faster than that and the wind starts to really play around a lot.

Interesting you say that.. when I was in Mexico I was street tuning and my 4TH gear redline was at 140mph and the car felt planted.. about 110mph that thing just HUGS. and the whole car sounded quiet as hell to. Check your tires and alignment. On the drag strip, our cars ain't for that.. But in Mexico strip way and a curb?! lawdy...

Did u load one of the base tunes, or tuned on a dyno/street tune?
