Intake Manifold Spacer

Hi, Has anyone installed the intake manifold spacer on their 4G (P2R or from MDX)? If so, what was your impression? Any hood Clearance issues?

It is a relatively inexpensive mod that some 3G TL owners have claimed increased torque across the power band, with slight drop in HP and TQ in high RPM range.

I searched Acurazine but have not come across 4G owners try this mod.

since you have the same engine as the 3G TL, you will get the same gains.

the older MDX's came with this spacer stock...
and you get mid range torque at the expense of high rpm hp loss

if you do get hood clearance issues, that's easy...the 3G TL'ers either cut the hood bracing or mill down the spacer.

Seems to be from 05/06 MDX. Some details from an Accord forum w/ part numbers (My Intake Spacer Dyno...GREAT TORQUE RESULTS! - Honda Accord Forum : V6 Performance Accord Forums). Heeltoeauto.com has the kit (MDX and P2R) for around $100 listed under 4G parts.

I have it on mine and no clearance issues but it is tight.

Would you mind commenting if it was a worthwhile mod? Could
you tell a difference in torque output? Also, did you go with the P2R or MDX? Thank you.

I had one long ago on my 09', the difference isn't noticeable. As Justin previously stated you gain mid range and possibly low range torque and lose top end HP. J series are not torquey engines they want to be high in rpm to make power. If you asked me how I would mod, I'd tell you to accentuate the strengths of the car not fight against them.

I like the way we still make power all the way to redline!!!
so, that means I can still be in the power range all the way to about 7100 RPM

those high RPM runs are what makes me demolish 370's and G37's
it would suck if i lost power up top.

Forgot to mention that it's quite common for P2R thermal gaskets to come slightly disfigured. I've had a few and there's always an oval hole and/or slight overlap. If you do decide to get them, you want to inspect it prior to installing and port match it. This is easy to do with a hand power tool fitted with a dremel bit.
