If weight is a concern of yours you probably bought the wrong car, the TL is a full size luxury sedan, if you wanted something light you just flat out got the wrong platform.

The best advice I can give you other than trade the car is buy a lightweight set of wheels/tires.

light weight rims will help you out a bunch!

since it is a luxury car, there are weights and dampers. remove the weights and dampers around the car and will help lighten her up. you're going to have to make some compromises with what you want to take off, in order to help you accelerate faster.

You can strip the trunk, engine covers, racing seats, covers under the dash, and so on. All depend on how far you're willing to go to shed weight.

if you want a light car.. 4g is absolutely not the car for that purpose.. like what wreak said.. wheels are your best bet... probably loose some weight yourself.

^you guise arent innovators.

ffmjt, I fully support you and your goals in losing the 4G heft.

we've done it on the 3Gs and it still retains most luxury features while edging out faster cars.

the 4G has one of the best driving dynamics ever made into a TL.
6MT with SHAWD is a fucking beast.
if you could trim some of the fat off, she could definitely hang with "sport cars"

The best part about lightening the car is that it's free and should help with mpg to.

Remove all unnecessary components that are not related to keep the car running, such as stereo head unit, amp unit, and especially the numerous electric motors that operate the power seats, power windows, power door locks, and power moonroof.

^hhehe, you're saying that in jest.

it depends how far the gentleman wants to take it.
you can still keep your luxury features while dropping weight

If one start looking at the Touring Cup race-prepped production cars, such as the Realtime Acura TSX, one will be amazed by how far the team stripped down the car for minimal weight.

I'm really interested in seeing what a 4G TL SH-AWD gutted like Innacurate's TL would do. If someones really interested in gutting it try this...

Remove;
Headliner
Sunroof Assy and make carbon plug
A, B, C pillar trim
Back seats
Spare tire, tools, etc.
Trunk carpet, insulation, anything un-needed
Door panels and zip tie on controls
Lightweight drive pully
RL's carbon fiber propshaft ( if it fits )
Racing seats
Remove that glovebox
Strip out the underhood plastics and insulation
Look for aweful dampeners to remove like on the 3G TL
Lightweight battery!!
Drive with less gas
Lightweight rims
Lightweight single pipe exhaust
Remove the supports behind the bumpers

If Innacurate's TL will do 0-60 in 4.7 seconds with very few power mods. I can only imagine a 4G with PCD's, J-pipe, and shedding around 700-800 pounds worth of weight. I could imagine with a little money a low 4 second car.

Do it! Start with all the plastic crap on the engine, hood liner. On the 3G's there's a weight on the trunk lid too to stop it from opening too fast, take that crap out. That's a few lbs you won't notice is gone and makes it easier to work on the car. I don't consider my car light at all since I have 2 12's in the trunk but the stuff I took off I don't notice it's gone. If I get rims I want light ones for it.

What are you willing to live without in your TL? Daily driver, Weekend warrior, or race car?
AC/Heater, soundsystem, leather seats, carpet, sound deadining, rear seat, thinner windows, single exhaust, etc...

Also removing rotating mass on the car will help alot (Wheels, flywheel, engine components, etc..)

There are many options to go with. What are you will to live with out?

Ultimately all you really need is a lightweight seat, steering wheel, shifter and driver interface items (Gauges, etc), everything else inside the cabin of the car can be removed and everything on the exterior can be made into carbon fiber. In which case you have surpassed what HPD has done for their weight in the race spec TL.
