Fumoto Oil Valve Review/Thoughts

So I had the valve part already that is recommended by Fumoto because it was on my S2000.

If you use their fitment here

So I had "F-106" already and purchased the extender "ADL-106"

The parts themselves are awesome, had one on the S2000 and it was awesome - just reached down through the engine bay and drain the oil with a flick of the switch.

Fitment wise though on the TL gets a

The drain part of the valve comes in contact with the oil pan. So much so that I had to unscrew the adapter and valve portion and do a weird dance of tightening the valve (on the adapter) while loosening the adapter (from the oil pan).

The clearance is incredibly tight - everything is fine now, I was able to tighten everything up and there's no leaks. I'll update on the next oil change with how it goes.

I know there was a few people interested in them awhile back so I figured I'd give you guys the info!

I was going to buy it but then something occurred to me - when installed it looks like the valve becomes the lowest point of the oil pan. So it will be the first part to scrape ice and dirt in the winter. This could potentially become disastrous if it breaks off or bends and starts leaking.

For me, the added convenience of this valve is really not worth this risk.

Nope, that's not the case.

It pretty much extends straight out from the drain hole, I wouldn't be worried about it coming off. I had it on the S2000 for ~60k miles and never had an issue.

I'll see if I can grab a picture of it today. Just finished the suspension install so I wish I had thought to take a pic yesterday.

Have had the same valve and adapter on our TL for about 40k miles with no problems. Installation is tight but certainly doable.

I ordered a Fumoto valve for my 4G 6MT. After futzing around with it, I realized that it was just not a good solution. The company was incredibly nice about it. They refunded me fully and sent me a box to mail the parts back in. I would definitely try it in another application, but it just did not work out well for my car. I know the guys at BITOG forums love them.

I can jump in, I left it installed on my car for the duration of owning it. It works without issue but there's the slight clearance of installing it. You don't have to dent/bend/etc anything but it will scrape by the oil pan. Once it's installed it works without issues. I think maybe a slightly longer adapter would be the way to go.

Did you install the ADL-106 that's typically recommended with our oil pans?

ADL-106 | Fumoto® Engine Oil Drain Valves

I've done this adapter and the valve with great success on many cars!

Check out my first post

Yep, I had the ADL-106, it fit on the car but was a tight squeeze getting it on.

Sub'ed for pics, looking to get this as well and my gf TL too so she can easily do her own oil changes =P

Do they make one for the transmission plug too? Cause everytime I change my tranny fluid comes out super quick and makes a mess.
