I've tried the following mods:
-Takeda Intake
-P2R thermal pacer and IMG spacer
- XLR8 j-pipe
What I kept: XLR8 j-pipe.
The way I see it, I prefer the exhaust mods to the engine bay mods as all I got was a noisier and hissing TL which ran rich during city driving.
IMHO, the best set-up for my tastes is:
-Lightweight wheels and 2 pieces lightweight rotors (if they were available): Improves every aspect of the SPORT sedan without playing with the engine. Makes the ride better too!
-Exhaust mods to your liking. I like the J-pipe alone because of the bang for the $ factor and a car that stays civilized at all time.
With this set-up, you can expect 10-15hp/15-20tq, an increase of 1-1.5 MPG and a much quicker, better handling and braking car.

Thanks for thew reply bro. I am sure you have seen the thread about the pcds and hfcs i think that last one is right. lol but I hear good things about the pcds. its suppose to be the best bang for your buck. not out for the 4gen but seriously made an impact on the 3rd gens from what I have read.

..... and, don't forget lightweight tires too. Always check the weight of the tires you're buying. Michelin tires, although more expensive, tend to be 4-5 pounds lighter per tire than almost all other equivalent performing tires.
The last thing you want is to spend hundreds or thousands more on lightweight wheels thinking of saving a few pounds per corner, only to have the heavy-ass tires negate all that expensive weight saving.
