Lets see... This thread started in December... It's now end of April, almost May -- so my spidey senses say June-July time frame till something solid shapes up -- which puts us Aug-Sept time frame with those who ordered them bolting them up.

I was at Marcus's house earlier today having some other work done (great experience as always) and he didn't really have much of a time frame and mentioned other projects he needs to get to. We need to push him if this is going to happen. I offered to leave my car with him in the next few weeks for testing. Feel free to count me in on the list.

I've had numerous exhaust on all my TLs...I have the XLR8 for the 4G, but did not install it yet.

I had the ATLP, Non-resonated V1 quad exhaust on my 3G type-s. coupled with their J-pipe, Hi flow cat, and Rv6 pre-cat deletes... the noise was beyond tolerable in the cabin. i loved it to death, but really wished there was a switch to just "turn it off"... Any guests in my car, usually couldnt stand the sound for more than 5-10 minutes. Using HandsfreeLink became very difficult.

When you are on the highway, going 65mph at a steady engine speed of 2.2K rpm for 2 hours, the engine drone becomes really irritating. When you have a headache, and you just want peace and quite, you cant have it.

I know XLR8s new design use some special technology to minimize drone. Not sure if the ATLP setup will have the same

If i can make a suggestion, get the resonated version. it may give you .5 - 1hp less, but well worth the lower noise level.

IMO, the best exhaust ever on an TL, was the Comptech Catback for the 3G. perfect blend of sexy beast & humble dominance.
Just to comment here a tad...

You deleted all the converters and nearly all the mufflers from your 3g system...I think the noise at some point should be expected. Just sayin...ATLP 3g systems are available with resonated middle pipes which would really improve the sound levels. The system for this car will also have such and option.

Also, I am not sure what black magic XLR8 would be using. I am seeing a couple resonators, but that is really it. There isn't a rocket science here, we plan on making the ATLP as seksee sounding as possible without being annoying for sure.

Do you have an estimated time frame for the Quads?

I could estimate a time frame...but whenever I do I seem to shoot myself in the foot.

And I am never sure that time frame to shoot out...time to have a product? Time to start taking orders? Time to ship?

I think what might be best to say now is what the next step is. We will have a system designed and ready to take orders on before my birthday, May 22. That will be a little present to myself and to you guys.

**Update**

Just a little update, I have been scheduled to drop my car off to Marcus on 05/04/11. Don't know the exact details as of yet, but will update here once I meet with him on Wednesday.

Update:

Just dropped my car with Marcus and he is bringing it in to get measured and what not as we speak, he said that he will try to do a lot in one day because he doesn't know how busy his guy is that does the exhaust. But he really wants this exhaust to go out!

He's been really busy with other orders from other cars and his business is blooming especially within the past couple of months, thats why he's been swamped and unable to cater to us as much as he wanted too.

The plan is;

-Muffler from the FWD design will remain unchanged
-The current diameter on the piping is at 2.5" and may or may not change
-He just needs to get the correct measurements to assure fitment and quality
-Try to get a baseline dyno and mod dyno

Marcus will be sending me some pix later but here are some from his house

Sorry for the delay guys, and I will keep you guys posted.

Not really liking the whole staggered set up of the tips. Want to see how they'll look on the car though, may change my perception.

I would be of the opinion that they won't look a whole lot different from the hi-res pics found at the beginning at this thread:

^ Sweet shots.. it was those pix that made me decide I want them on my SH-AWD since Acura so thoughtfully stopped making the quad tips for the '12 :grrr ....

Thanks for the link, somehow I managed to miss those pics. That setup looks dope, now I got to decide whether I want the XLR8 or ATLP exhaust... Decisions, decisions.

Sorry guys, we had a delay. I was 5 min from the fab shop when I got a call that the fab guy's dad had to goto the hospital for unknown reasons and the appointment was called off to take care of family matters.

So now we are looking to find out when we can reschedule.

Sorry jp, wanted a more recent list as it has been a while from the last one and I know at least FYAH has gotten the XLR8 exhaust, which he was on the original list.

**Update**

Marcus rescheduled with his fab guy for Wednesday 05/11/11. We will try to complete everything in one day, as in, fitting and measuring. Since the design is already set and just need to make a Y-pipe, then it should be pretty straight forward.

When I pick my car up tomorrow from Marcus, I will ask about the piping diameter. Any thoughts?

If you guys have any suggestions or questions, let me know and I will direct it to him. He told me he has very little time to come on the forums.

yes, the piping as it sits now is at 2.5", just like the FWD. I believe the stock diameter is in the 1.75-2" range. In my experience with catbacks, 2.25-2.5" is good for N/A, while 2.5-3" is better for FI.

I used to own 2 EG6s that were N/A and modified to AutoCross and 2 Nissan 240SXs with SR20DETs.

Obviously, you do not want to bottle neck on FI applications, especially with turbo where thats how it creates its power. In NA, you don't want to have the diameter of the piping to be too big for the motor.

I could be wrong in some of this because I only have worked on 4 bangers NA and FI.

No worries I was playing. I'm very and hope it comes soon but I'm holding off. Since your closets to the action and logging your time on this thread.......... Do you think we can have these systems by July?

Thanks for keeping us updated, and donating your car.

To be honest, we're trying to finish this as quick as possible, but at the same time want to make sure that everything is up to par. Like previously mentioned, Marcus will try to get a lot of work done in one day when I bring my car back. His fab guy will do a measure, make a mock y-pipe, and fit.

As long as there are no need of modifications with the mufflers, then it is down hill from there. Can anyone confirm that the SHAWD and FWD mufflers and hangers are the same?

So to answer the "time frame" quiestion, can't tell yet until at least the end of next wednesday when we meet again.

Of course, as soon as I know, I will definitely update here and hopefully have pictures as well.

don't really want to speculate on the price as of yet, but I am sure it will be priced similiarly to the FWD version. I am sure it will be a few ticks higher given that the AWD needs more material. Again, a little too early to tell without the final design, but I will ask Marcus what his ball park is or at least his goal in terms of pricing.
