4G Acura TL SH-AWD (2009) Exhaust???
I'm looking to put on an exhaust on my TL, (just a muffler for now no tips). I would love to put on the XLR8 full catback but that's not in my price range at the moment. I've been looking at the magnaflows and i think they sound alright the only problem is i have no idea which one to buy i would prefer direct fit so i can install it in my driveway im just trying to hear the exhaust right now but i will probably upgrade to an ATLP or XLR8 in the future. I don't know if you have to weld on the TL's but I've installed Flowmasters on a 09 Ram in the driveway with no problems. I would prefer no drone but if there is some it has to be minimal thanks.

The inconvenient truth
If you really want to install them yourself its fairly simple. Just make sure you get ones that are direct fit. If you need to you can measure the circumference of your pipes and use the internet to find the diameter. Install is just a matter of dropping the back of the exhaust down, measure the length of your new mufflers from tip to tip to know where to cut out the stock mufflers and then use a saws all to cut out the stock mufflers at the spots you've measured and weld in the new ones.

Agree with "Justnspace" . Aftermarket universal mufflers involve a bit of custom work since they are not a direct bolt on. You will need to cut the pipes, get hangers, use lap band clamps etc. A muffler shop will handle all this for you, do a clean install and it will not be extraordinarily expensive.

If you planned on staying stock then you'll need a 2.25" inlet and outlet on whatever body length you choose.
If you can't find what you're looking for in 2.25" then 2.5" can work as well, but doesn't line up quite as nice since the diameter is a little bigger so you may need a couple adapters.

Finally got the exhaust done, i went with a muffler delete and replaced my resonators with magnaflow glasspacks the part number is 18135. The only thing i want to add to the exhaust now is either the xlr8 v2 j-pipe or the rv6. Anybody want give their opinions of the j-pipe they have?

I've got the XLR8. it needs about 1/2in of spacers for one of the cross bars. But it was super simple to install on a driveway with the car lifted and on stands. No issues whatsoever. Love the sound, I think there is definitely some sound gains, a low growl which sounds good.

Justn is right you should really just pick one because they are both great. The choice was easy for me because RV6 is the only company that makes a product to replace the pre cats. Got to respect and support that imo.

I bought the xlr8 pipe a few months ago and couldn't be happier. I'm 99% sure I installed it properly but it still needs some spacers on the cross bar right under the pipe, so I added about 1/2 an inch of space using oversized nuts.

I picked up the RV6 HFPC's from the marketplace, i will be installing them as soon as the weather gets warmer here. I got a local shop to quote me on a custom j-pipe they told me $550 installed, since it would cost me over $700CAD for the bolt on stuff i'm going to go with them since they are a very reputable shop. I'll post some videos of the exhaust after the HFPC install, im expecting it to be louder which is what i want.

I have the XLR8 J-pipe and RV6 HFPC's. Love em. Great quality and both freed up a few ponies. I say "free up" because these don't add power, they free up existing power, which in my opinion is better than "power adders" because they also increase efficiency. The same effect but positive effects on mileage and no additional strain on the engine (less strain in fact). I recommend Ktuner afterward to really unlock their potential though. Anytime you're messing with engine airflow you're going to want to tune if you can. The ideal air/fuel ratios may be different when making those types of changes. Just make sure you do all the mods you want to do first. Then tune.
Do all that little by little if needed. The stuff ain't cheap. It's not eBay garbage. XLR8 may be able to hook you up with a deal if you purchase more than one item at a time.
