USB device getting power despite relay off position
Complicated question but bear with me here. I have a 2010 TL base that I've added on a backup camera and using a Nexus 7 tablet as a display. The Nexus 7 is attached to a usb hub, which then attaches to the USB video capture card (EasyCap) receiving input from the camera.
I've rigged it so that when I back up (reverse lights switch on), it will provide power the camera, and start a relay that simulates the USB video capture card being plugged into the hub (see attached link). This allows the display software to pop up showing the rear camera feed when backing up, and in theory when I shift out of reverse the power to the camera & relay should cut off causing the USB capture card to disconnect.
Issue right now is that when I back up, camera input & USB capture card are plugged in and video feed pops up immediately as intended. However, when I shift out of reverse, for some reason the USB capture card is still receiving power through USB connection (light is still on). I'm sure the relay works in interrupting the USB power (red) cable when shifting out of reverse, but how is the EasyCap device still getting power?

I was able to fix this after cutting out the black (ground wire) from the USB Extension cable (from EasyCap to the USB Hub). Apparently for some reason the black ground wire was keeping the power alive and made everything wonky.

I actually used this setup as my template so it's similar to this:
