I just updated my navigation. I thinks it's worth it if only for the peace of mind that I get from knowing the latest map information is in there. However, the original reason that prompted me to get it updated was looking at the system in the MDX I just bought for my wife. I thought it would be the exact same, it's not. It may be a small thing but I noticed that the home icon is different in the TL than the MDX. Also, I noticed some differences in fonts. But again, I think it was worth it.

My production date for my car is November 2009, my software is 7.8 and 1.9 Where do go to get an update? How much does it cost? My issue is not with the maps, but the DATA base for restaurants, my wife 2009 TSX and my Garmin NUVI and my GPS on my Blackberry phone all have two restaurants in San Diego that have been here for 10 years, but no where to be found on the TL??

Version Info

You can also pop the DVD out of the player in the trunk and look at it. The version number is written on it (small).

If you go on the Navigation website through Acura Owner's Link, you can see all the version numbers and what each upgrade provides. You can also order upgrades through that site. Occasionally, the have a sale price and send out a flier or email.

?? Ours does not have a dvd drive in the trunk. I heard either a new DVD going in dash since we have a DVD in place of cd player or thru USB flash drive.

btw here are my versions.
database: 7.80
software: 1.92

So are you saying that even with the newest update the MDX is still different then the TL?

I guesses there might be minor difference between the new update vs old one. Default one is 1.91. I wonder if you can use the same DVD to update in more than 1 TL. Its not like we have to keep the DVD inside all the time.

Thanks

The 3g TL had the DVD drive in the trunk. For the 4g the nav system database is on the car's hard drive. Updating the Nav system would be done by putting the DVD in the player. Unlike the 3g you do not need the DVD once the update is done.

Just got a bill from XM telling me my free trial is expiring. It lists a price of 1yr + NavTraffic @ 212.12 US. I thought the Nav system was independent of XM and the only cost was for map upgrades. Is my assumption correct? IF not looks like I was mislead.

The data for traffic and weather is provided by XM and you need a subscription with them to provide this service.

I'm not seeing any updates for the 09 or 10 TL's on the site now. It looks like it was pulled? I need to contact Acura - I just picked up my 10 TL SH-AWD on 11/1 and it has software ver 1.90. I'll be damned if I'm paying for an update this soon.

How much did you people pay for the update?

My letter from Acura is asking $185 USD, plus tax, free shipping, but I've heard of a $99 special.
Does anyone know about this?
