New '13 TL Advanced....and question about the subwoofer

Just pulled the trigger today on a '13 FWD TL Advanced, white with a black interior. Total was $37,777 plus fees. I leased it with the plan to trade it in early on a TLX when that comes out.
On a side note, I'm wondering if the subwoofer is working in my car. A couple of months ago I was looking at a used TL and I was playing with the Acura demo DVD on track 22 where it plays the music on each separate channel. I noticed when it got to the sub channel I could feel the vibrations pretty clearly even though the sound wasn't very musical.
When my car gets to the sub channel I don't hear or feel anything no matter how loud the volume is? I don't think that's normal.

Anyways, it's a nice car and it's going to take me a while to figure out how to use everything.

Congratz! Play around with the "Sound Settings," you'll be able to increase the subwoofer output along with a few other things that you could adjust until you like how it sounds.

Congrats on your new TL.

There are lots of settings you can play with for our ELS sound system. The factory instruction booklets are your best friends.

I was playing around with the sub settings and it doesn't seem to matter where I put them, I don't hear any difference. I'm also not feeling that kick in the back like I did with another TL.
Unless there's a switch to turn the subwoofer on or off, I guess I'm going to have to take it in to get it fixed. No biggie.

Enjoy the new ELS system in your TL. Although they are hard to find, search the internet for some DVD Audio discs. You will be amazed at the sound quality the ELS system puts out through the 5.1 surround system.

It also helps to turn off the Dolby Pro Logic. It tends to flatten the sound.

Congrats on your purchase and color choice!

I feel plenty of bass in my '12 Advanced though not a major thump. I hope you sort it out soon.

The subwoofer is a monster... you DEFINITELY will hear it when it is on. It rumbles the whole car. Take it back to the dealer...

This is something I've wondered too on my '12. Changing the subwoofer level doesn't seem to change much of anything. However changing just the normal bass setting really kicks up the bass. Almost too much IMO. I tend to leave the bass at about +1 or +2 and then the subwoofer at +3 or +4.

Now you've got me wondering if my subwoofer is not working. The bass level mainly changes the bass in the doors and main speakers. Plenty of bass, but I agree, not much from the subwoofer itself. Is the subwoofer under the long skinny speaker cover on the rear deck? The overall sound is amazing though, so maybe things are fine.

On my 2010 TL, I have my bass set to +1 and the sub set to '0', and it still sounds 'boomy' on certain songs. I'm wondering if that's the nature of the subwoofer on the rear deck of the car? I'm used to tight, punchy bass from a sub in a sealed box.
Overall, the ELS sounds pretty good though.

It's funny because the only reason I suspected anything was wrong was because of a used TL I drove recently. I could feel the sub and you could definitely feel the difference as you turned the sub level up and down (as opposed to adjusting the bass level which seems to affect the other speakers).
If you have the demo DVD play track 22 and it will isolate all the separate channels. When it gets to the sub you should be able to hear the sound even though it's mostly vibrations (something my car is not doing).
I bet there are people out there with non functioning subs and they don't even realize it because the bass is pretty strong even on the other speakers.
I'm listening to some of the audio DVD's I bought and the ELS is pretty impressive. Now I just need to get the windows tinted.

You should definitely feel the boom - if I play Yeah by Usher or Thrift Shop I usually have to knock the volume down to 7 or 8 to keep from my ears bleeding

I went to Acura and had the sub checked. They seem to think it's working fine and we even compared it to another TL using multiple sources including a DVD-A.
Funny thing is when we adjusted the sub from the lowest setting to the highest setting we could barely tell the difference in either car. I've been in other TL's where the sub was turned up and I could feel it kicking me in the back it was so powerful. I turn my sub all the way up and it doesn't do anything. Drag.
