That customer didn't mention the audio at all, only the video. I can totally agree with his comments regarding the switching and video playing. I have no complaints about that. My vehicle has a rear entertainment system installed. I can move the sources from the NavTool interface to the rear input jacks and view the picture and listen to the audio without any whine at all. Additionally, the other customer had a component interface and I have a composite interface. I'm not sure if the other customer had to cut any wires as I did since a connector for my interface was not available.
All things considered, the interface is still a very good product.
I would still recommend it to others.

According to the hardware specification we've received in the developer pack, the lightning connector supports HDMI output and DSUB output at native resolution, but the existing one already supported HDMI.
If you're still going analog input to that screen, I don't suspect this will work with these options.

Can anyone post pictures of their navtool set up? I'm interested in this unit, and I'm looking for ideas of where to stick the usb cables in the car. Is there a way to have it be in the arm rest or somewhere that makes it look integrated?
Also, does the new lightning connector for the iPhone 5 work with navtool? It would be nice if navtool came out with a version that just has a usb port for both data+charging, so then we could use an extender and loop it into the armrest or another area.

Ah ok. I take it we'll have to wait for the newer Lightning -> HDMI cables to come out.
Anyways, anyone have any completed installation pics or video walkarounds? Really interested in the device but want to see how it looks in other people's cars.

And that cable would do you no good anyway.
It's COMPOSITE - that's about 20 years older than HDMI and a third of the resolution. This setup does not have a digital video interface.
I would certainly want to be familiar with video connectivity technology and options before I went splicing into a $40,000 car's NAV system.

Since the new lightning USB cable only provides a digital output, HDMI would normally work. However, since navtool doesn't have an HDMI input yet, would this require users to use the older 30 pin -> composite cable and a 30 pin -> lightning converter?
On another note, how does sound work with navtool? I understand that you hold a button for a few seconds to switch to the video device, but what about the audio? Do you have to press the aux button to switch to the aux input, or does the audio automatically switch when switching to the connected device?

Did any one figure out the audio portion. I connected an ipod with video out thru rca cable. The video comes out great but there is no audio. The installation video says to put it in aux mode, but without an aux input into the port, the car will not switch to aux. The fact that the navtool has an rca input leads me to believe that a separate aux cord is not needed. Any input?

Hi,
In the supplied T harness all connectors are gray color, but in the back of the radio one connector is blue (24 pin) color, that blue (24 pin) connector is you audio,
Disconnect blue (24 pin) connector, connect gray (24 pin) from T harness into the back of the radio and then connect blue (24 pin) into T harness

Audio Issue Corrected
Audio whine was eliminated by using the replacement harness as well. NavTool's tech support worked with my installer to get the job done. Good job!

Can someone take pics of how where they have the USB cable coming out in there car?
Ideally I'd like to have it lead to a female USB port in the car, but I don't think that's possible at this point unless navtool uses a USB port on their device for both data and power.
Whenever you load up navtool, do you also have to change the audio input to aux or does the harness take over the audio system?
I'm also wondering if anyone has updated their system with the new lightning cable for the iPhone 5.

Sooooo I can't believe something like this is even out! I guess that's what I get for not logging in and checking out this site in forever! I will say this though, I'm glad I didn't see this back when it was first even mentioned cause I would have been one of those guys who put down a deposit only to find out the release got delayed for months and I would have been pissed! Also, I'm a proud owner of an iPhone 5 and can't imagine downgrading now so I'm hopeful Navtool comes out with something for me. My lease is up in July and I'm considering either returning it or extending my lease 6 months until the new Gen TL comes out. If an iPhone 5 version of this Navtool comes out soon, it will make my decision to keep my car, since I'm sure it will be a long time before something like this is released for the new Gen TL's.

NavTool input from Factory Rear Entertainment System
On the NavTool site, there is now an option to have the navigation screen play video from the factory Rear Entertainment System (factory DVD player). I don't the instructions posted online how to get this done, nor can I get assistance from tech support via phone or email. Does anyone know how to do this?

NavTool, how come i only see this interface available only for 2G and 3G TL on your website? http://www.navtool.com/acuratlselectyear.aspx
