iPhone / Bluetooth headset pairing

In my 3rd gen, only one device would sync to my iPhone at a time - if I entered the car, it would override my bluetooth headset. If I wanted to use my headset, I just clicked it and it took over from the car.

But in my 4th gen, both devices are synced to the iphone at the same time and both have crappy audio as a result. I had to unpair from my Acura to use just the headset.

Any reason this has changed and anyone know how to get so only one device at a time is paired to the iPhone?

I'm seeing something somewhat similar when I use my moto S9HD headset. When I start the car and it pairs with my Iphone, it automatically severs the headset connection and its not even an option in the iphone audio menu to revert back to my headset. Tho the sound quality is decent, I don't think I'm getting crappy audio like in your case. I'm wondering if Handfree has some special priority or something...

Well, that's how mine used to work and all I did was click the headset like I was going to make a call and it would take over from the car again. (This was annoying when I would be getting gas and have to turn the car off and on again, for example).

My issue is that I'll get in the car, start it and now the car and the headset are both paired and I can't get just one or the other without forgetting the car, but then I have to restart the whole pairing process again (while in Park) to even use the car's setup.

Iphone question, while my Iphone is connected to the USB cable and start the car the music plays and then the audio goes silent but the track time is still moving. If I disconnect and reconnect the iphone I get audio again. Anyone having the same issue?

Wanton: I am having the same issue you described. I have to unplug it and plug it back in too.
Anyone out there has a solution for this?
