I miss the ELS 6 disc changer

The lease on my 08 TL expires soon and I am shopping for a new car to lease. One of the things I love about the TL is the ELS 5.1 system and 6 disc changer. I can play over 10 hours of surround sound music without having to touch a disc. I have over 100 DVD-A/DTS discs, so I am strongly leaning towards leasing a car that can play these discs. Unfortunately, Acura has done away with the 6 disc changer and replaced it with a single disc player and harddrive for the 2011/12 ELS head unit. My understanding from searching the messages here is that neither the harddrive nor the USB connection supports surround sound. Has anyone come up with a way to add a 6 disc changer to the ELS system?

I felt like a total goof after I bought my 2011 TL on Friday. I traded in my 2007 and it was sort of a last-minute thing. Just wanted to take advantage of a nice deal my dealer threw at me.

OK, love the car (Although I had a Type S and wish they were still available) but I never realized until after I bought it that it only had a single-disk changer! I know that's on me, but I just never expected them to take a step backwards!

I get their argument about the hard drive but it isn't a good argument. The TL gives you about 5,000 different ways to play stereo music but only one to play 5.1 surround. Being able to load 6 DVD-A disks would have been perfect.

Silly Acura designers.

I can't disagree at all. I also love DVD-A sound and miss being able to load the player up with 6 discs... the ELS system sounds fricken awesome but give me the 6 disc changer back!...

I guess they wanted the space in the dash?

It wouldn't be so bad if they let you burn the DVD-A discs to the hard drive. I like the convenience of not having to carry a load of discs around in the car.

the new car is els, and still dvd-a, and its still 5.1 surround...its way way better then the old els system that was in my 07 type s....way better...but you dont get to stick 6 discs into the dash, instead, everytime you put a disc in the car, it automaticly burns it to the hard drive...i like this better then having the indash disc changer....

Except that it won't burn DVD-A's to the hard drive.

^exactly and DVD-A sounds much better than the ripped songs on the HDD (most times)...

If you were to go back to the 3G, after say a few months of 4G, I think your list of things you miss would be quite a bit larger than the 6 disk changer.
