Galaxy S3 via USB "UNSUPPORTED"
Great site! I have been reading and learning a lot.
S3 works great via BT, but I want to connect via USB for higher audio quality while also maintaining next/previous/pause/play controls through the stereo unit. I guess I'm out of luck? Tried searching, found mentions of this, but haven't yet found anything conclusive. Thanks! |
It has to be Fat32 if you want to to play via USB mode I believe. Otherwise you need an iPod.

Thanks, that makes sense. I was hoping to use spotify, not local files. Looks like I'll have to plug in via AUX or continue to use the bluetooth connection. I don't think AUX will get me artist/track info and use of the steering wheel controls. I'll have to do a side by side comparison of the audio quality to see if it's worth giving up the convenience of blueooth.

BT streaming on my Nexus 5 has been great. But you do notice a difference between CBR and VBR mp3 files.
I just set the equalizer as Flat on my Google Play Music player with Bass Boost and surround off. |
Thanks for all the information!
I do all of my music listening through spotify on the highest quality setting. I'll have to do an audio test with the AUX port and see what works for me. I'm willing to give up a small amount of quality for the convenience of not taking the phone out of my pocket. |
USB playback on Android devices is not supported on most stereos unfortunately.

Do you have usb debugging on or off?
I have the OnePlus One. 100% stock with developer options enabled... Maybe try turning the phone off, plugging it in, and seeing if it charges. Just a troubleshooting idea. |
