Expanded Traffic Information

I got a message in my nav system that there is now expanded traffic information in my area and to log into myacura.com to learn more. Lo-and-behold, I log into myacura.com and there is no information about the message.

So I call my dealer. Clueless.

I called client services and their official answer is that this indicates that there are areas which previously had no traffic information that now include information, but they are unable to tell me what those areas are.

Like... Um... Wow. Thanks for the info?

For the first time I've experienced Acura product fail.

Not a big deal, but certainly not the answer I would have expected.

What I really wanted them to tell me is that major roads are now covered in addition to highways a-la Google Maps. THAT would have been awesome!

I recieved the same message (I live in Las Vegas, NV). I called XM and they said they have a promotion now for Acura owners and are giving XM Traffic and Weather free for 3 months....I got it. Traffic now works great! Weather sorta useless. Im not sure if the promotion is good only for the Las Vegas metro area, but wonder they have the same promotion where you live...then you can check the traffic out for yourself. Im sure if they have traffic available in Vegas then they would also have it available for San Francisco which is a larger city. Good luck man....

The only thing XM could say is that it probably means areas that didn't have traffic information now do. And without a before and after shot of what I had vs. what I have now, that doesn't really add any value to the traffic system update.
