Does anyone know if the Honda Accord smart entry remote is compatible with the Acuras

This is my least favorite feature of this car, the remote! The fake chrome scratches and peels very easily. I recently saw a remote off the new Accords. They used the matte black plastic for the case instead of the fake chrome. I wonder if the insides are the same? Maybe we can take out insides out of our remotes and put them in the honda case? I realize the key function might be an issue, but who knows, maybe there is a work around for that?

Honda's version

Acura's terrible version

I'd like to know this as well. My paint is already chipping off and the car is only a month old.

I am interested too. I think that shape must match or you can but it in the car if the battery is low.

I have a 13 TL and just bought my wife a 14 MDX and tried switching the internals with no luck. The TL's internals are just a hair too long for the MDX fob. I wonder if the new Honda keys are longer than the 14 MDX key fobs?

^^^^^

The 2014 engine-starter-equipped MDX is using a longer remote fob than the one without.

So, the TL internal might be able to fit in.

Just an idea, compare the FCC ID on the back of the remotes. If they are the same, then it should in theory be capable of being used. I know with the 8th generation Accord Coupes (08-12), people used the 09+ TSX switchblade since the FCC ID was the same. It was as simple as taking it to Honda to program.

I just pulled apart a 2014 Advance MDX key FOB (the extended MDX key with the remote start) and that one is too big. The buttons do not line up what so ever...
