Disable HFL voice prompting 2012 TL

I'm freshly out of a 2008 and now in a new 2012. How can I shut off these awful voice prompts? Every time I press the HFL button I have to press it twice before I can speak the voice command. That's not how it worked in the 2008 and it's annoying. I scanned through the owner's manual but nothing popped out at me. I'm familiar enough with HFL from my previous car that these prompts were becoming a vexation after the first hour of ownership.

Hopefully I've overlooked something simple. Thanks!

How to Disable The Voice Prompting

Okay, I found it and you have to do this procedure for each of your keys.

The function is officially known as "Voice Recognition Tutor" and it's explained in the Navigation Manual (if you have Navi).

Go into your setup screen (main setup then push the joystick to the right to get to "other". Now choose "Basic settings" and scroll down to "Voice Recognition Tutor". Note that the default setting is "on". Select the voice recognition tutor then press to disable it.

Note that from this same screen you can also disable your verbal reminders (i.e., seat belt reminder, etc)

Whew, nice to have that annoyance shut off.

Well, neither did mine. However, I just knew there had to be a way, she was driving me nuts.

Talking Thank you! Thank you!

I have had the 2012 S-AWD with Tech Package for 3 days. The prompts were driving me crazy. You can push the talk button twice to interrupt the prompts. Found that by accident. Much better to turn the system off. I did not find this in cursory look at the manual. The salesperson also did not know this.

Just bought the 2012 TL tech FW and having problem with the system recognizing the voice tags I set. Per owners manual, once the voice tag is set (lets say mary), hit the phone button, then the talk button and say, "Call Mary." It should call Mary, however, mine forwards me to another screen that says, "to dial a number or stored voice tag, say the number or name" So, I hit the talk button and state the voice tag name and it finally dials. Doesnt that seem tetious or is something wrong?

same with with my 2012. I thought i read something that it's different in the tech package but yes..it's a bit tedious.
