im still trying to wrap my mind around why you would need to install a mic. I though ALL forms of carplay uses the phones mic.

Beats me. Maybe it does work with just the phone mic. But the instructions say to install the included mic. I never bothered to check if it would work with just the phone mic before I rippped it all out.

Oh I did, and about 2 minutes after I installed it, for the reasons I mentioned earlier, I ripped it all out. I guess I’m impulsive that way.

EVERY thing you are trying to do to your car I did about 7 months the exact same way.

Im wondering if the glove box woul dbe a good install option...
would you want to sell me the carplay part? LOL if you didnt burn it up after ripping it out?

I didn’t think I could return it since it came as a package with the Navtool component and since I was keeping the Navtool component, I figured I couldn’t just return the CarPlay component so I decided I would just eat the cost.

So yes I still have all the CarPlay pieces. I might be be willing to sell it but you do realize you need to have the Navtool component for it to work right? The CarPlay component has a composite video output that plugs into one of the video inputs of the Navtool component. It also has dual RCA audio output that you would connect to your car’s AUX.
