1. Lack of heated steering wheel and windshield (had this feature on my Range Rover)

2. DRL's (please put LED's on the exterior)

3. I would love to see a panoramic roof (like the ZDX)

4. The small trunk and lack of fold down seats

5. Suspension (it's a tad bit harsh). Give us magnetic shocks like Cadillac has

The TL was a replacement for my wife's 2000 TL. What we like is that it is distinctive looking compared with the other cars we were considering (Lexus ES, Genesis which were both pretty generic/bland). In terms of exterior appearance the cars strongest points are the rear and the fender treatment over the front wheels. The weakest appearance areas are at the side along the rear window/door line and the front. There is still just something about the grill area in particular that begs for improvement but I cannot put my finger on it. The car also seems taller than it needs to be (it looked hulking next to our 2000 TL).

On the interior, at first I was disappointed when comparing it to the Lexus and Genesis and even our old TL (mostly due to the lack of any wood trim) but over the last several weeks of ownership it has grown on us. However, the steering wheel in the Lexus that automatically moved in and out of position when entering/exiting the car was a pretty slick feature that would have been nice for the TL.

I was disappointed when our 2000 TL did not have at least one fold down rear seat and am still disappointed that the new TL still omits this feature.

please.. its a TL, it will probably never have this feature.. your comparing it to a range rover.. mercedez dont even have this feature, what makes you think a TL should

2. DRL's (please put LED's on the exterior)

Acura doesnt go that route, none of their production models have LED in the exterior besides the tail lights. Im sure they will change that tho since everyone is converting to LED now.

3. I would love to see a panoramic roof (like the ZDX)

This one i will agree with you.

4. The small trunk and lack of fold down seats

ditto

5. Suspension (it's a tad bit harsh). Give us magnetic shocks like Cadillac has
again, your comparing a Touring luxury car to a straight luxury car (cadillac)

it will and probably wont ever have a smooth enough suspension that is acceptable. the car needs to be nimble and to move quick so stiffer suspension is needed.

I would go with the small trunk and that the rear seat doesn't drop down.

I do not live in a cold climate area, quite the opposite actually.... but for those winter months where the temps dip somewhat, it would be nice to have a heated steering wheel... something to be expected at this price range...

What I mentioned in my list (which includes a heated steering wheel) is an answer to your post that you had asked seeking what others here thought would make an ideal TL. I posted my response and if you don't agree with something on my list, then that's fine. There no need for name calling or for sending PMs stating the same.

i was just asking, for someone to want a steering wheel warmer for their fragile hands sounds like your taking luxury to another level. i mean come on, you either live in a very cold environ, or well...... could very well suffer from sissy syndrome? i have no idea because i've never met you, thats why i asked the questions i did. nothing more, nothing less.!

Big +1! I thought the same thing - he first creates a thread for opinion and then ridicules you for yours and starts calling names! Amazing & pathetic!

Warning To Everyone.

Guys,

What started out as a decent subject is turning personal. That's not what we are doing here.

I'm one step away from closing this thread.

Either it stays on target and doesn't get personal or we're done.

Agreed!

Any other qualms with the TL, quite personally I think the is almost perfect (other than the tickets that its presented me). I'm thinking I might wait to see if the 2013 has a new look and even better than the 4th generation.

But I must say, the 4th generation is gonna be damn hard to beat!

And to clear things up here, I was not starting anything at "lji", I was just shocked that he drives an 2010 TL SH-AWD Tech 6MT Manual 6 speed manual in Texas" and is requesting steering wheel warmers?!?! To be honest with you, I didnt know steering wheel warmers existed before he brought it up. I guess you learn something new everyday!

If "eazyrider" was not starting anything, why go to the extent of ridicule and then sending an PM that in effect said the same? If op knew any better, op would have known that heated steering wheels are offered on existing vehicles. I guess mentioning it was calling out the op's ignorance... hence the "shock". But at least op admits to learning something new.

i dont think your insurance company will even ensure you after your 4 tickets. id start to think twice on your driving record than to get a new car.. just a little info for you.

I know BMW offer heated steering wheel in cold weather package. My dad's friend LS460 has heated steering wheel, pretty sure Mercedes should have that option too. It's kinda a luxury option, but it's been there for a while.
On some cold days in TX I do wish my car had that heated steering wheel too ha ha.

Hmmm.. I hate being negative when there are so many great features about this car... But here it goes:
1. The navigation system is 'ok'. Given how Acura prides itself on technology, I find that the nav is just so-so. Here are my reasons: a. the navigation doesn't speak street names; b. the navigation does not have speech recognition (other than very basic and useful commands such as "find nearest restaurant" - I am typically looking for a specific place, not just any ol' place); c. It's pretty frustrating having to find a specific place using the joystick/dial. Compared to the stock navigation in my 2009 Kia Borrego (which has none of the above issues), it pretty much sucks.

2. No lumbar support for the passenger. My wife thinks the back seat on the passenger side is too firm, and there is no way to fix it. Not good for a $45K car.

3. Trunk space is just ok.

4. The dealership experience is no where near what one would expect from a luxury car dealer. My Acura dealer (in Georgia) isn't as nice as the local Ford dealer.

5. There should be LED lights on the tail lights, etc. I saw this on a much less expensive Kia Sorento yesterday.

6. A panoramic sunroof would be nice.

7. Sonic sensors in the back would be nice (camera is very good though). Not a factory option for my 2011 TL (which I have in my 2009 Kia Borrego).

8. No power steering wheel (which I have in my 2009 Kia Borrego).

My car is always in the wrong gear and hesitates to downshift. It feels much less powerful than it should.

lji, so basically your saying that out of everything that the TL lacks, you'd like steering wheel warmer, even though you live in hot and humid texas? is that what your saying?
