I have a 2G CL-S and a 1G TSX. I thought about a new TL for a sec until I saw the pics. The Sh-awd is a very nice feature and will be a great selling point but for the price its not practicle for me. Plus I don't like the look of the 09 TL, TSX, RL's what so ever

2019 RDX Tech SH-AWD
I had planned to buy a 2010 model TL. However, I'm so excited over the SH-awd that I would like to buy early. Of course each year things are fixed and added, so that can be dissapointing. But I haven't purchased a first year production since 1982 when the new Toyota Celica GT came out. It was a really different look too and I enjoyed having it first. Of course I had to trade it for the 1984 model when they changed the front grill. (maybe samething will happen?)

May not be an 09... but more likely the MY after MMC down the road.
At this point in time if I was willing to dish out $35K I am more likely to get a used 2nd gen RL over this.

I am waiting for 4G TL MMC - 2012 TL SHAWD to replace my wife's 07 Camry V6 XLE. I hope they come up with new engine (a-vtec better fuel efficiency)+ 6 speed auto soon. 19" rim looks so sexy.
To own a TL is always a dream to me. I made a huge mistake to get $30K Camry and later I realized I could spend 3K more to get an 07 TL!

I'll wait and see what they do if and when a Type-S comes out. If there is no M/T option, then I'm leaning towards no.
By then a RWD RL w/ a V8 might be out

By the look's of these changes lately/and pricing ,......I'll have to wait for the wheels on my 07' TL-S to fall off!....if HONDA doesn't come up with RWD and a V8 in the future , look's like I'm headed to BMW after 12years...

i'll give that front end 1 year before they revert back to the older style.....that really ruins the car for me........

Hey hugh, im thinking of the 09 Audi A4, or the new g37 coming out in 09 (4DR). I know the g37 is faster then the A4 but lol i don't know. Are u gunna get the turbocharged, or the reg v6 for the A4?

Here is why I said NO. I will likely buy a car in 09, but the new TL has afew more neagatives for me that positives. I won't be able to afford a SH model so the base tech model would be what I woudl be looking at. The interior is OK, although I am not fond of the navi hump or that damn ugly cheap imitation of an i-drive. I also don't like parking brakes on the left where it can dig into my leg. The exterior styling just does not do it for me, the grill stick out and detracts from the car. The rear I an unopinionated on. the side profile is really sweet! Also the size, at 6 inches longer and 1.8 inches wider this thing is hugh for a "sport" or even "sporty" sedan. I suspect I'll be in G37 sedan, while a tad tighter than my Type-S, the styling to me is better. I know they'll sell a ton of the new TL, but part of me hopes it fails so they'll revisit this new styling they are going to with the grills in particular.

Just this week an Acura dealer called me to find out if I have some interest in the 09 TL. As the owner of the 2g and 3g Acura, I had to say that given the new looks and the 5 speed transmision I'm not going to replace my 06 for a new Acura. His anwser was "beauty is in the eye of the beholder".

'09 TL - no.
'10,'11,'12 - maybe.
If I like the test drive, read favorable reviews from members on this board, see positive reactions on the 4G design from people I know and finally find out that rattles are not a widespread problem like with the 3G, then a definite maybe.

Will buy it - definitely when Acura gives it a MT gearbox. Here in Europe MT gearboxes dominate and I think when Acura will officially sell its cars here in 2009 or 2010, TL model is available with this option. Otherwise - not.

Surprisingly, I choise MAYBE. Even though I hated the grille initially, now that I have seen the whole package, it is really growing on me. For now, it is on my potential shopping list for 2009. I guess now it depends on how the competition will fare... so far, the new 2009 Audi A4 is a strong contender...

ostrich...I must agree with you that the 2009 A4 is a fine looking automobile!! I was debating to wait for this A4 but a few months ago, I decided to go for the TSX and don't regret it so far. I know the Audi is sexier but I didn't want to deal with super crazy lease rate and having to wait for the car. I got an amazing deal on the TSX with excellent rate so I figured, why not get the TSX and get an audi when my lease is up. My g/f my take over my TSX when her VW is up at the end of her lease (2 years from now) so that would allow me to jump into a new car and this A4 will be on my short list. The TL is not as bad as what I thought, the more I look at it, the more I think it has some chance, but as everyone else, I'll have to see it in person.

My sharp looking TL sport sedan turned into a bloated looking lexus wanabe. The front end reminds me of that alien in the movie Predator. That's almost as bad as the old "tooth" on the last Maxima. The stock wheels look very cheap and are ugly. The interior is very nice, but I hate the inset nav and no touch screen.
I'll keep my 06 for a while, then probably go to BMW.

Gonna have to say no. I've been holding out to see how the TL would turn out. I'm going to spend 10 years with my next car and the TL has pretty much put itself out. G37 and CTS are at the top of my list now. After 12 years with my Accord, I was really hoping to step up to Acura this time, but not with the design language they've gone with.

I owned a 97 and 02 TL and currently own a 05 TL which I love. I was going to get the 2010 TL next year (never want to buy it in a new model year). But so far I am unexcited about the new TL and will probably switch to BMW.

TL-SHAWD 6MT Rocks!
will not buy this TL, looks too much like a lexus GS or Maxima from behind...
Why can they design something more unique ?
I have an 07 Type-S silver, and love this car...
I would probably buy a Prius plug-in hybrid as a second car...

No. Maybe the 5th if they get a larger motor or have RWD as a option.
