Wolf whistles in the parking lot
I drove my wife's 2010 TL (black/black, sh-awd, tech, 6-speed MT) to a local big-box liquor store today. When I got back to the car (pushing a shopping cart loaded with beer, wine booze), there was a guy and his gorgeous lady standing nearby. "Great looking car," he said. He meant it. I said, "Thanks."
I keep my wife's car washed/waxed/polished to a fair-thee-well. It was cool to get an unsolicited compliment. I swear the guy was sober.

I've had two separate unsolicited compliments on my MBM 2010 TL SH 6MT since May. I received zero compliments on my 2007 335 with sport package in 3 years of leasing. I speculate the general public thought I was a jerk when I had the BMW, and, therefore, I deserved no compliments of any kind for any reason. Refer to my post in the "what is luxury" thread about brands and image they exude... This time around, I chose "smart luxury" over "image oriented".
One might argue the "common folk" dare not approach someone driving Tier 1 luxury lest they may be offended or feel threatened, where below Tier 1 luxury like Acura conveys the message "common man earned him a nice ride" and invites interaction...
One more bit of data - the score is currently 1 to 1, BMW vs. Acura, on victims stranded at gas stations who need money to get their sick relative to the hospital. I guess those folks play by different rules.
