Why was the Acura TL held to such high standards? 1st year ATS Sales numbers....
On numerous car forums, I heard nothing but glowing praises for the Cadillac ATS. How wonderful that car is, what a great piece of machinery that car is and how Cadillac 'build it right'.
The first full year sales of the ATS is:38,000 in the USA.
During the 1st two years of the 4G TL(2009-2010) Acura sold back to back 34,000/yr units. These numbers look similar to me.
Let's also not forget the 49 in 2009/2010 was in the middle of a heavy economic depression, so 34,000 units sold is probably more impressive than the 38,000 sold by the ATS in 2013.
To me the 4G TL, was not a glorious success but it was far from the failure Acura haters try to make it out to be.
I'm currently driving a Lexus IS 250 and would trade it in for the TLX as soon as the TLX hits the market. I was actually offered a surreal lease option from an Cadillac dealership and decided against it.
