I would agree in a perfect world rotors won't get replaced very often but its not a perfect world. When you have a customer that drives 3000 miles a year and they have a brake noise where half of the rotor is pitted, it needs rotors, plain and simple. Just because you got a 100,000 miles on a set of rotors doesn't mean everyone will.

yup, you can be washing your car with dawn for 10 years and not have issues but that doesnt mean it was done the way it should.. i mean your car still is clean so i guess it does get the job done, dont make it right tho

lets just agree to disagree on the brake issue

back to the orig topic:

1: had a nissan w/ a timing chain - dealer wanted to replace the timing belt

2: honda van - dealer said the a/c condenser was clogged (compressor was ok (didn't come apart)) - I said ok can I see it - picked it up the "clogged condenser" and w/ my lungs blew air thru it. (actually needed expansion valve) - realize on the high side of the a/c system the pressure is much higher than my lungs can do

Thread getting good. Everyone can agree to disagree but for those that know what they're talking about you get to see what others don't know. So in the future when you read their posts you already know if the information is credible or not

Needless to say, I went to a different dealership to get my oil change for $59. This is in Houston, TX.
Which dealer?

Good idea crxb! Sorry to have been involved in the hijack.

I just got the email this week from the dealership explaining that it's really important to have my cabin air filter installed by factory trained technicians. I was thinking, hey what about my furnace air filter?
Maybe I'll spring for that $250 furnace tuneup next time too. lol. Maybe I should take my furnace in to Acura and get their technicians to change its filter.

yah jim_c - that cabin air filter is best left to the experts - after all you might be injured emptying out the glove box, and then pulling the "shelf" out, b4 you can get to the cabin air filter

especially if you have a warped cabin air filter

My buddy used to work at John Eagle but he switched his job. I guess I have no reason to bring mine to them anymore.

I think the BS thread is cool but should focus on the lies more so the prices since they are subjective. They can charge whatever they think someone will pay bit the shady tactics to get you to pay that is what should be exploited. Like the 49.99 acura windshield wipers that one of my coworkers just bought. Said the car wouldn't pass inspection with the ones up there. She offered to go to advance and get a set but was told the acura's have special OEM blades that promote longer life to the windshield wiper motor and keeps warranty intact. Plus they clean 30% better and won't affect the delay in the wiper motor. She's happy and I'm happy that someone feels good about 50 bucks for some wiper blades

Not with a TL, but happened to my ILX Hybrid tech. Mentioned a broken clip on the rear bumper (Noticed it ~1k miles). INSISTED on getting a whole new bumper installed...

so after taking the car back in for the fourth time about the brakes squealing and they telling me its the way i drive, it turns out there was a " small broken spring from the car" that was hitting the rotors "once in a while". I asked what part of the car did the spring came from, and should i be worried that it might break something else, and the tech said "no, even though the spring came from the car, it broke off, and the car still works properly"... interesting...
