A valve adjustment is under the maintenance minder as normal wear and tear like breaks.

Maintenance Minder 1
Recommended service:
  • Rotate tires
  • Independent of the Maintenance Minder information, replace the brake fluid every 3 years.
  • Inspect idle speed every 160,000 miles (256,000 km).
  • Adjust the valves during servics A, B, 1, 2, or 3 if they are noisy.
Maybe you could get them to do it goodwill. Or if there is an actual problem with your valves the adj may be covered. Hope this helps

Are your valves noisy or ticking? They shouldn't be.

Sounds like BS from the dealer (that you need a valve adjustment).

I have a 2009 and I have not had that issue before. That sounds odd to me.

A valve adjustment can help out if it has never been performed before. I did it at 105K to ensure everything was proper as I plan the second TB job at 210K, not at 165K.
