VHT Haze on Inside of Headlights - Prevention

A few months back I opened up my headlights and used the VHT Nightshade on the amber reflectors (in addition to painting the bezels).

Well let me back up a step, on the passenger side headlight I made the mistake of trying to clean the inside of the lens with a 50/50 mixture of IPA and water. I immediately noticed hazing and scratching even though I was only lightly rubbing with a microfiber towel (I believe I damaged the coating on the inside). Fortunately I was able to remove the blemishes after about an hour and a half of rubbing with Meguiars PlastX.

Fast forward to now, the VHT is causing a haze on the inside of my headlight likely due to the intense heat. This is happening even though I stuck the painted reflectors in the oven for about 15 minutes on 200 degrees with the hope of preventing it.

The interesting thing is it's only happening on the driver's side headlight! It appears as if the PlastX is preventing it from happening on the passenger's side. I know it has nothing to do with the driver's side getting more sun exposure because the way I park at work it's actually the passenger's side that is getting more exposure to the sun.

So if you are considering opening your headlights and want to use nightshade on the reflectors instead of just removing them, you may want to apply a coat or two of the PlastX on the inside of the lens before re-sealing. Hell since some people have experienced the haze just from their painted bezels it may be a good idea even if you are leaving out the reflectors.

Here's the obligatory pics. Don't mind the water, I just washed my car and it was too early to use the blower.

Fortunately it's not quite as bad as it looks in those close up pics. I will be addressing it at some point in the future though and I'm hoping the PlastX will remove it and prevent it from happening again.
