Unusual Spec listed on the TL page
"The TL brake system features a firm pedal feel that enables the precise deceleration and modulation demanded of high-performance driving.
12.6-inch ventilated discs in the front and 13.1-inch solid discs in the rear comply readily upon demand."
Is is just me or do you also find it odd that the rear rotors are larger than the fronts? Or is this just a misprint on the website?

I agree with you about that sounding unusual. When I read that in the brochure, I too questioned it.
So as soon as we got one in, I measured, and confirmed, the measurements. They are correct. You can actually just tell from looking at the rears that they are larger. But even though the rotor diameter is larger then that of the front, there is still clearly more surface area on the front. That and the upgraded dual piston calipers (a step up from the single piston older TLs).
Too bad I don't see anything about a Brembo kit...though I do have to clean my wheels more often because of that. But to me, it's worth it

it's me, Alan Rickman.
Corporate confirmed it as well.. but the guy agreed that it does seem odd since most cars are the opposite; bigger up front!
I wonder if it's got something to do with SH-AWD and the added weight in the back.. but rather than developing two rear brake setups they used the beefier ones across the board..

Remember that the fronts are vented and tne rears are solid.

I swear I'm really not trying to start an arguement with the following statement, but just because the rotors are bigger (12.6" 09 TL vs. 12.2" 07 TL-S) doesn't mean they actually stop better, or have more stopping power. Surface area is key here, and while I don't have exact #s or specs off the top of my head, I can tell you by simple measurements, comparing my 07 TL-S to an 09 TL that the surface area on the rotors on mine is greater then that of the 09s. Additionally, knowing what my pads vs. 09s pads look like, I will assume that my pads have more surface area. I'm really not trying to get into a physics arguement here.
My overall point of my previous post was simply that the Brembo setup looks nicer then the single or dual piston setup, and that they def stop better then the single pistons of the 3G TL's. Again, I'm not trying to start something, it was just a comment I felt made sense to state. And as I originally stated, either way, the dual piston upgrade from the single piston is def a step in the right direction.
