Trunk Tray and Cargo Net

Is it possible to install the trunk tray and cargo net simultaneously on the 4G TL? I had a 3G TL (and just got a 4G TL yesterday), where I unscrewed the mounting buttons from the trunk floor, placed the trunk tray on top, and just screwed mounting buttons and created my own hole through the trunk tray. This kept the trunk tray from sliding around. With the mounting points screwed in, I was also able to hook up the cargo net.

For anybody with the trunk tray, how is the fitment? Did you just leave it loose in the trunk, or did you secure it with the mounting buttons?

Fit is nice and secure. If you want to add the net you cut out the little circles in the tray where the tie downs are in the trunk and they fit through the holes in the tray.

Perfect. I figured that's how you do it. What's the best tool to use to do the cutting? Last time I did this (major pain), I just used the screw threads of the mounting buttons and twisted and twisted and punctured my own holes.

I would use an xacto knife or a utility/sheetrock knife and poke it through on the outside of the circle and use a sawing motion and go around the circle. The material is not that thick there so it should cut easily.

I just used regular scissors. The thing is, try not to actually cut through the entire hole, it really only needs about a dime worth of space to fit through. I cut the hole before i opened the cargo net and realized how much of a gap there is, making it less effective for keeping liquids away from the carpet.

Another member just cut an "X" shape in the center of the hole and it fit through fine (though it's possible the tips of the X eventually shred the string where it's tied down).

I think i'm just gonna use the threads of the screw on the mounting tabs and jury twist them to make the puncture. I seemed to have success in that installation method in the past. The tough part is findin the exact place to start the hole/cut. Any tips to line it up?
