TL numbers
Whats up everybody....I'm just curious what types of numbers people are getting right now on TL leases. I spoke to a salesperson who I have dealt with a few times in the past to get some new lease figures. My TSX Tech lease is up at the end of June and the numbers I got for the TL sounded really good but I wanted your opinion here. So all figures are no money down and nothing out of pocket with all taxes and fees rolled into the lease:
TL Base: 36 months/10k yr/ $359 a month
TL Tech: 36 months/10k yr/ $399.24 a month
What are your thoughts??? Any input would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks for the help.

It's all a formula and it mainly depends on the price you get. The Base TL actually has about a 5% higher residual value than the Tech or Advance models which makes it a better lease deal, although I'd never recommend anyone buy one.
In my case, I just leased a 2013 FWD TL Advance. Price was $37,700 and I got about $1,000 in equity on my trade on top of that.
I didn't put anything down and my lease is $530 for 36 months at 15k miles a year...with the first payment already made so I'll actually only make 35 payments.
Residual was 52% and money factor was .00062. Tax here in CA is 9% and the plates were about $400. Acquisition fee was $595 and there was an $80 doc fee. And yeah, I could have gotten it cheaper but I make good money and I didn't really care enough to go back and forth anymore. It was an impulse buy.
One thing I like about the Acura lease is that GAP insurance is included for free. You also get $1,500 damage waiver and they'll forgive some extra miles if you go over but trade in for another Acura.
It took me a couple of days to get used to the car (coming from a Toyota Avalon) but now I really enjoy driving it. The car is much quieter than I thought it would be and I will never get tired of the ELS audio system.

I think you are doing really well to get a new Tech at about $400/month. I wouldn't even consider the base at that good of a deal. I haven't shopped leases in 2 1/2 years but the best I could do on my 10 Tech at the time was $450/month (my lease is up in November). Let us know what you do and I know you'll be happy with your choice.

We need the actual capitalized cost (sales price) of the car to determine if the lease price is good; as well as what fees are being rolled into the lease; i.e. tax, tile, dealer doc fees.
Just a quick workup based on current offers of 55% residual for the Tech and 57% residual for the base; and assuming the AFS excellent credit tier rate of 1.49% (.00062) those lease numbers look good but are VERY subjective to the actual capitalized cost.
If you want the honest answer "are these good lease numbers" we need more information.

^Then, right before you seal the deal, ask them for a free trunk tray and a set of 19" wheels at cost! If they refuse, get up and walk out. They will never let you get into your old car and drive away.
Trust me, it works.

So I am still waiting on the fees etc. the manager is supposed to be calling me back shortly from the dealership but the price on the Tech is $36,000 even. I didn't even get the base price because I think I have moved on from the base. I have the tech in my TSX and I don't think I can give it up for $40/month. Anyway does the $36k price sound good givin the rebates and what not that are available right now? Thanks for the input fellas it is much appreciated.
Mr Marco: I have walked out on all sorts of crazy things and everytime they have chased me down...its pretty funny but it works. What is the cost on the 19 inch wheels/tires do you know?
Fees on the Tech are $1,056 Tax...$299 Doc Fee....$595 Acq. Fee...$325 Reg. and Tags....Payoff $23,102....57% Residual
Thoughts???

If you want to check out a lease, here is a link to a spreadsheet that will give you everything you could possibly need to know: www.carbuyingtips.com/download/regm.xls. It's a bit complicated but if you plug in all the figures, you can compare one lease to another and really understand what they mean.

If the CC (sales price) is $36,000 out the door with tax, title, dealer fees, etc. the $399 per month is a GOOD price. I come up with $430'ish based on 55% residual and 1.49%
I have a feeling the dealer is A) discounting the car, which they should and B) using some of the dealer cash for the tax, title, dealer fees to bring the actual CC to $34,800'ish which would get the $399 per month price quoted.
Nothing wrong with any of this as leasing is all a numbers game based on the final CC price. Taxes also vary greatly depending on your state/county so I am not adding for this.
In the end it's a good deal either way.

I am surprised AFS is willing to take it at 57% residual. The base is at 57% right now, Tech is 55%.
Jump on it. Residuals will begin to drop within the next month or so.

So I went to the dealership last night to have them look at my 10' TSX Tech w/19,550 miles on it. Last lease payment due next week. Payoff right now is $19,902. Original number they came with was 20k even on the trade which is what I expected them to say which would "get me out of the lease" as they love to say. So by the time I left we were at 20,500 which gives me $600 of equity. I honestly thought that it is a fair number considering the KBB on it is $20,662. And at the same time they let me walk out of the dealership and told me they are all in can't move another penny. Additional thoughts on the trade? Im in southern New Jersey.
