TL gets driven on the weekends or my day off only

g37...While you are not the first one to tell me the exact same thing, its just something I enjoy doing as well. For me, seeing beautiful pristine rotors, calipers, suspension, a clean under body, its just pride of ownership. While I know, and like dwest1023 said, often time I almost myself upset over it, its still how I am and nothing will probably ever change that. I am aware that someone else will benefit from the way I baby my cars but I wouldn't enjoy my cars if I had to drive them in such horrible conditions we have here. At the end of the day, people do what makes them feel good and for me, this is what does

You don't want your car to outlast you. Whether in traffic or not I enjoy being in my car.
An associate has a $110,000 Porsche that is the daily driver. Rain, sleet, snow (with salt on the road) you name it. Why buy a car to "save it", by keeping it "nice and new" in the garage?
None of these vehicles are collectors items.

Lots of people make their bed every morning and make sure the sheets are all tucked in and all the 10 silly pillows on top are in perfect postion (but don't dare use one). Why? You are just going to totally mess it up in a few hours. I also don't fuss with guest towels in the bathroom, or arrange my tools is exact dedicated spots in a tool chest. What I do enjoy keeping clean are my cars, which cost alot more than bed sheets, so it deserves at least the same kind of care. And my Porsche that I bought 5 weeks after the TL is cleaner than my TL, even though I drive it more and run it on the race track on a regular basis.
I actual don't spend much time cleaning the TL. If I don't run it through the dirty, wet stuff, then I don't have dirty, wet stuff to clean off.

Then again, we do what makes us happy. The garage could be considered a man cave for his/her trophies

Agree 100%.
The torque-vectored AWD and sport-tuned suspension are built to attack curves and corners at frightening speeds in the dry; and are built to conquer rain, ice, and snow in adverse weather conditions.
I specifically bought the stickiest summer tires to make the most of it in the summers, and the highest performance winter tires to be used in the winters.
Time is short. Be wild while still young.

That said, I do appreciate those with enthusiasm to keep a car pristine.
I am just to busy working and playing to put to much effort into maintaining a pristine vehicle. I even use the cloth car wash on a regular basis with no harm done that can be fixed by a good detailing.

Keeping a car in the garage or in pristine condititon does not mean that the owners don't enjoy them.I use my Tl in the summer only and i enjoy the time i spend in it and during the summer months after our seemingly long winters i would much rather spend it outside on the car or other activities.
No one said that the Tl is a collectors item, but you can't put a value on doing the things that you enjoy,so be it my job, house, car or lawn i put a lot of effort into doing and keeping it the best i can.

I have to agree with g37guy01 (for once). These cars are meant to be driven, no sense in having a multi-thousand dollar item just sit in the garage and depreciate. Be it an Acura, Audi, BMW, Ferrari, or Porsche, gotta drive it!
Then again, we do what makes us happy. The garage could be considered a man cave for his/her trophies

I can see if one lives in a big city like NY the car may not go out very often. And when I lived in the city rather than pay $500/mo for a garage (which was cheap) and an expensive car, I simply bought a used car.
However, I live in the burbs now and while my car is a garage queen, I put about 12k miles a year on it. I am not "saving" the car for future. It's gotten rock chips in the fascia and windshield and a few on the hood. I don't ascribe to the philosophy "save the good car" for good weather.
As others have said, my philosophy is I bought it to use it, in all weather. But being neurotic about my car I too am only a stone's throw from using it in good weather, on nice roads, in the daylight, when it isn't windy.

I think we can all agree that although we don't share the exact same view on whether we should drive our car all the time, or baby it like myself and a few others do, lets all agree on one thing....We have managed to express our opinion and ALL respected the other person without treating the other disrespectfully, and that my friends, is the nicest thing about most of the people here on Acurazine....We are respectful people!!
Thanks to everyone for all sharing your opinion while being respectful of others...
LITTLE GATOR.....The sad thing about me is that I still do my bed every morning, put my 10+ pillows, tuck my sheets and even worry about my bathroom towels On the flip side, I stopped ironing my underwear *LMAO*

I actually find it difficult to watch car "fix" or "restore" shows where they show all the work they have to do to a car to cut out big pieces of sheet metal because of large amounts of rust. Or torch off out-of-date suspension systems and weld on new stuff. And that can just be the begining of it all. I image that is what they enjoy doing.
I completely understand people with the viewpoint that a car is a tool for getting around in, and keeping it real clean doesn't fit into that utilitarian mindset. My daily driver is Ford pickup and is so past due for a wash that my son noticed it. So I have a utilitarian side of my brain too.
But taking a very old, rusted, and outdated car, and putting vast amount of time & money to bring it back to a level that it will still not match up with new cars of today, just seems extreme compared to just keeping a modern car clean & dry.
Some people like "rat rods".
I am simply pointing out there are many ways how people view what their car means to them and how they treat them accordingly.
Question: Does anyone know why so many people when parking their car into a parking spot, pull so far forward until the front tires strike the curb, that they grind the heck out their front bumper/facia/undercover?

Going fast through puddles will give your bottom a good wash, lol. Looks good.
On another note, like "weather" i also enjoy being on Azine since most of the time members will engage in discussion rather than arguements,it is a reflection of their maturity and mutual respect we have for each other opinions.
Take care of your cars regardless of what you drive and enjoy them as much as possible,in whichever way we like to.

I though I was bad, some of you guys are bordering on OCD. I knew a guy that would wash his car in the rain, he was afraid of acid rain damage. I live north of Boston, I can wash my car in the garage, drive on the highway for two minutes and it's filthy from melting snow, and the sand and salt on the road. It gets pretty dis-heartening.

Spending hours every single weekend manicuring the cheapest thing on earth, grass in my idea of anal. Only for it to nearly die again every winter. And if we don't, we will have even more anal neighbors tell us to get anal, or the HOA will sue us. Those are the people that need to get out and drive their cars, or something, anything.

MY TL is also pretty much a weekend warrior, stays garaged the rest of the time. Never had trouble with the battery, I just do not fill it up, keep it on the higher end of empty, put fresh gas in every week.
While I do not disagree with assertion of driving and enjoying your car as much as possible since you own and pay for it anyway, I do appreciate the fact that I can command a significant premium on my car vs one of the average mileage and condition. It's maximizes my return on the investment and I generally like keeping my things as nice and as new as possible regardless. Even a lease with low mileage and well kept can net you equity.
Now suggesting why would one bother placing money there in the first place if it's largely unnecessary, that might be a valid argument but in my case I need a car in limited capacity anyway but have the luxury of having access to a work dedicated vehicle for my primary line of work and also running personal errands in between.
While the TL may not be a collector's car per se, I really do think the manual, with it's elements of the 6MT + torque vectoring AWD, and it being a luxury mid size sedan, gives it some credit in that regard, especially if you are into that type of vehicle and considering how little or rarely that is available. Off the top of my head, I cannot think of any other vehicle that offers that exact combo in a brand new 2013 vehicle, right now.
