Timing belt kit and strut recommendations.

Had my tires rotated last week and found out they are starting to cup so looking for strut kit ideas for my 12 TL. I am fine keeping stock ride. I found the TRQ kit with all 4 and was also thinking about the KYB GR series I believe? Anyone with experience on these and where to get the KYB with all 4?, I only found sets of two. I also read a couple reviews that some thought TRQ was better on american brand than Japanese branded vehicle?

Also at 117k I need to replace the timing belt. So looking on rockauto at the Ultrapower, Dayco, Gates or SKF kits. They all include the seals. I have a friend from high school who actually worked at SKF till he retired so going to ask him. That kit is the most at $240

Thanks for your suggestions

The Aisin kit from rockauto is supposed to be the best kit, if you're going aftermarket.

KYB works fine for shock replacements. Tein Endurapro are another great choice.

Thanks BRO, the Aisen video was impressive, looks like a good kit for the money and they are OEM for many brands.

No problem

Rockauto also sells Aisin blue coolant. You need 2 gallons, and buy a coolant bleeder funnel from somewhere, to make your life 100X easier.

They also carry the OEM Denso Iridium spark plugs, which are due at 105K.

Another item I'd consider doing while you're in there is the oil pump re-seal. I can't recommend any aftermarket gaskets or sealants. So you'll have to shop a honda/acura dealer like hondaautomotiveparts.com or curryacuraparts.com for Hondabond and the necessary gaskets/O-ring seals. Its a lot of additional work...but you're already half way there when you take off the timing components. Look to see if you have any oil seepage near the oil pump. If you do, then research the process.

Use the FSM as a guide.

So I assume the Denso 5356 and not the 3483. the first is gapped at .035 second at .044 The owners manual recommends the NGK DILZKR7A11G, any difference other than denso is half the price?

Denso Dxu22hcr-D11s (3483) $16.99
NGK DILZKR7A11G $18.02

I think they are almost the same price. Denso 5356 not fit for 3.5 engines at all.

My 2012 came with NGK Laser Iridiums from the factory or by dealer service. So that's what I serviced it with.

I wasn't sure why you suggested the Denso as those look to be for the 3.7 I haven't looked yet but bet I have the NGK as well.

I would just be safe & go with Acura recommended NGK
RockAuto has the best price on them

Is this the timing belt/water pump kit that people buy on RackAuto?

I just got it the other day. Seems to be solid build quality the bearings are heavy and very smooth but they don't roll freely if you try to spin them, maybe they are supposed to have some tension to them. A friend of mine who is long time tech is going to install for me as he has worked on our cars for years. I just don't feel comfortable doing this. Looking at instructions this kit covers a few different 3.5 engines. I also went with the TRQ complete struts. I think my back LR spring has a little sag to it so figured to just go with complete struts.

Just curious, at what mileage did the Sub-Code 4 (timing belt and tune up service) appear?

I had a B1234 code at around 116k but it may have been for the last oil change last year as well if I remember correctly, I was thinking that was the standard code. Too bad they couldn't just throw a small text on MID that said "chng T belt."
And on a side note, when i used to drive 52 miles round trip each way to work the change oil light came on around 7200 miles. but since changing jobs 2 years ago I am driving only 5 miles round trip each day and the computer calculated the oil change at a longer duration. I got 10k miles on this change and I always use the Mobil 1 so I don't worry about the extra mileage and the oil still looked fairly clean.

Oh I never gave feedback on the install. a mechanic friend of mine did the struts and timing belt kit and plugs. The old plugs were shot and that all went well the engine is amazing fast again and it pushes you back in the seat a little under full throttle, never felt that before.
As for the Struts don't go near those TRQ, They seemed like competent struts with a slightly rougher ride. Then in December when the weather in Ohio got around 30 degrees I started hearing a little rub sound from left front, a few days later temps dropped to 16-20 and it sounded like the whole front end was going to fall off. I need to see if if I can get them warranted I thought they had a one year on them.

Also my BT stopped functioning. I found the link about getting a new interface box and installing. then a month ago the drivers window started acting up only going up and down in ½" increments, then the sunroof and front passenger window stopped working but the next day would be fine. Not sure if I have a bad regulator or windows need reset.

FYI my battery died in January and I installed a new Interstate from Costco and it worked ok but died last month because I only drive 2.5 miles to work and it doesnt allow it up to highway speeds, I tested the voltage and comes in at 13.9-14.1 I read sometimes after a battery swap you have to reset windows?

I also bought a 2014 Mustang convertible last summer so my trusty Acura isn't getting driven regular. more trouble shooting to do.
