Timing belt and 105k maintenance

Hi folks !!! happy to become a new member in this forum. I just purchased a 2012 TL AWD SH and would like know if it is better to service a timing belt at this Miles now and if a tune up is recommended? Anything else maybe that I should know maintenance wise? Thank you very much! Hope I can find some feedback

I just bought a 10 TL SH-AWD 6MT with 92k. The timing belt has not been done from what I can tell. I pulled the inspection cover and snapped photos. Does anyone have photos of what their belt looked like before and after replacement? I didn't observe any cracks, tears and the teeth still look good on the backside. Just trying to compare it to another TL to get an idea if this was potentially replaced already but not recorded on service records/carfax.

I have a 2012 TL SH-AWD @95k miles and recently had the Acura dealer perform the timing belt, water pump and hydraulic tensioner plus the oil pump re-seal for $1,275 USD. I did the spark plug replacement myself and definitely recommend using the new NGK Ruthenium plugs 96358 from RockAuto ($8.13 each vs $9.42 for Laser Iridiums). I personally would not just judge by the belt looks, etc. but a combination of miles and time. I would recommend having it done sooner rather than later since you are at 12 years / 100k.

Alright, my brother is a mechanic and will do it on the side for a cash deal, he's isn't looking forward to it though. His system says 5 hours labor. I will get on RockAuto and order parts. My brother was saying go top of the line and get Continental. What kit does everyone usually get? The Gates kit seems very reasonably priced.

I’d go OEM on the timing belt. This is probably the most important maintenance you will do on the car. Yes, it costs more, but it’s worth it on this. Also, if you decide to sell it having the OEM receipts will payoff. Go NGK on the spark plugs either the OEM or the ruthenium. I’d also listen for any valve noise and plan to adjust those if you have any rough idle at start up. Good luck! These are great cars.

Buy all the timing components from a Honda or Acura dealer.

Hondautomotiveparts
Bernardiparts
curryacuraparts

etc

Buy the plugs from rockauto that say "actual OEM" or whatever.

The Gates serpentine belt kit and tensioner seem to be fine.

But never buy aftermarket timing components.

I could think of lots of things this car probably needs lol. Definitely don't slack on timing belt, tensioner, and water pump replacement.

Interference motor...ain't cheap to replace.
