Thinking of buying this 2010 TL SH AWD - thoughts/advice please?
Hey everyone, thanks for reading. I currently own a 2001 Acura CL S type. I bought it about 10 years ago when it then had 13k miles on it. Currently I have 177k miles and it is still running strong - it has also been paid off for about five years so no car payments has been great.
Anyway I was looking at used cars for fun last night and I came across this 2010 SH AWD TL and I love the look of it. It also seems like its selling at good value. What are your thoughts?
Also I havent really seen many TLs with those rims, does anyone know what those are or how they ended up on that car - was it sold from dealership like that or mostly bought afterwards - i know it doesnt really matter, I am
just curious.
Finally last but not least I am getting married in a few months. I dont know if that will sway anyones thoughts or comments.
Thanks for your help guys. I love this site so thats why I came here. Link is below to view car.

its a decent deal, the interior is not umber as stated in the ad, its ebony
those wheels are the accessory wheels you can get for the tl, so it may have been sold from the dealership like that if the previous owner wanted it as part of the deal. usually cars that are heavily optioned like this may be showroom cars for the dealer from my experience. which isnt a good or bad thing, its just that the dealers install some accessories and a person buys it off the showroom floor

I believe those are the 19" OEM Diamond Cut Wheels which is an option.
Car also has the lip kit all around with painted grill.
Price looks decent
EDIT: Actually, price looks pretty damn good

You need to test drive the car. Check the brakes and other things when buying a used car. Was the leather taken care of? This is usually a good first indicator that the previous owner took care of the car. Because if the interior looks like shit it is usually a good indicator that they didn't take good care of the car.
Make sure all your regular fluids are normal especially brake fluid and things like that. Check for bumpers and panels that don’t line up. These can indicate a car that’s been in a collision. Look for possible signs of repair.
The ‘death rattle.’ That’s any rapping, tapping or banging sound coming out of the engine when it’s running, especially when it’s cold. Check the tailpipe; the exhaust shouldn’t be blue or black, or smell of antifreeze. Pull out the oil dipstick, and pass on the car if the oil looks creamy-white, which can indicate an internal coolant leak.
There a lot of things to look for when buying a used car, do your homework and check all the things required before paying 25 grand. Remember it's your money and once you sign that sale contract and didn't notice these things after the fact.
You're fucked.
Good luck with your purchase TL is an awesome car.

I bought a 2012 SH-AWD last month w/ 39k on it. After driving for a few days, I began to hear whistling sound coming from the car when hitting 20 MPH. Found out it was the propeller shaft. Acura dealer replaced it as it was still under new car warranty. Parts alone would have cost me $1200. After reading these forums, I find its a common problem with 4th gen SH-AWD models.

Intermediate
Propeller shaft is a drive shaft on AWD tl's. Mine failed at about 35k. It makes a subtle whistling noise at moderate speeds. Mine started at about 40 mph up to 55 or so when it was masked by wind noise. I could hear it better as I slowed down. It abruptly quit at about 25 mph, like someone threw a switch that turned it off. The car had to be fully warmed up and driven for at least 10 minutes before I could hear it. At first it was intermittent, and at times I wasn't even sure it was real, but after about 5 months it was undeniable. Fixed for no cost under warranty.

KBB shows price range of ~$26K to $28K so the advertised price seems low. I would want to know why a dealer is asking so much less. If it all checks out, it looks like it would be a good deal.

If it all checks out well, it looks like a very nice car- will payments on it (since you'll be married soon) be an issue? If not, get it.
