Thinking of buying a 09 TL-AWD
Hey everyone im new here and looking for some quick advice. Im considering purchasing a 2009 TL- SH-AWD Technology package.
White with Umber interior.
30k miles
$27500
located in socal
Choosing between this and a 09 Audi A6 3.0T quattro.
Ive been an Audi guy for the past 10+ years, but used to have an Integra before that.
THe Audi is about $5k more
Good deal???

That sounds like a pretty good deal. Color option sounds super rare as well, I have not seen any White/Umber combinations around. I recently picked up an '09 TL SH-AWD with 19K for $29k OTD. If the vehicle has a clean Carfax and you're able to have a mechanic check out the vehicle and give it a clean bill, I would jump on the deal.

Are there any chronic problems that i should look out for specifically?
It is under warranty still so Im not too concerned with having a mechanic do a thourough inspection

Burning Brakes
sounds like a good deal. the color combo is good too.
the speakers are sometimes blown but will be replaced under warranty. theres also the rear deck rattle on some of them, not sure if its just limited to the fwd or both.

Go back in and get it-Now work a deal for a new set of wheels and tires AT COST. Right before you sign on the line, tell them you want 19" OEM wheels at cost. The sales manager will scoff and act insulted like you told 'um that they have bad breath, then you say "This is what it will take to complete the transaction." They will agree. The do every time. If they don't, get up and walk out...they will call you back, if not, go back in the next day ask them if they have reconsidered your offer. Eventually they will submit.
Make sure you see the cost on the computer screen in the parts dept, not just some number on a piece of paper.

The A6 is one class up from the TL. So it seems like an even better deal than the TL with just $5K more.
But make sure you also buy the longest extended warranty available for the A6, if you so decide to buy the Audi.

I can second that the speakers will sometime blow out. They are capable of handling a lot of power being pushed through them, but with anything else, it can only take so much before it fails. My driver side door speaker is blown, but since my vehicle is still under factory warranty, it's being replaced.
You may often hear about rattle issues with the TL as well. My issue is a rattle coming from the front passenger area. I can't pinpoint if it is the seat rail/track or if it is the plastic casing that is wrapped around the bottom of the passenger seat. So if you pick up a TL, keep an eye and ear out for these problems which are simple fixes.
