Taking the plunge

Hi new member here. Think I am doing it today. SHAWD tech with auto. Like the manual but love the umber and can't have both
37149 + TTL and destination. Don't qualify for conquest or loyalty. Good deal?

Welcome and good luck with the purchase.

I haven’t been shopping for a TL lately but from what I have heard from others I think that $37K is a good price. I am sure other members will chime in soon and help you out further.

FWIW – some dealers (not all) may allow you to take advantage of the loyalty or conquest rebates if you have a relative that has a Honda/Acura or one of the “conquest approved” brands.

If you know someone mention it to the dealer and see what he/she says, sometimes all they need is a copy of the registration. The worst they could do is say no and at least you know you tried to get the add’l $1,500-$3,000 off. It never hurts to ask.

Considering you don't qualify for the loyalty, it's a good deal. I'd at least try to negotiate a little more and see if they can knock off the destination charge or something. Remember, they want you're business! Good luck!

I have been shopping phone and internet. One dealer says that my 2 Hondas will get me the loyalty. Another says that's just a tactic to get me in to the dealer, get me ankle deep into the process and then pull the layoff--"Oh, Acura won't accept after all" and by then I'll be too far gone to change my mind. Would be sweet to cut another 1500.

On a side note, I am considering the wood steering wheel and wood shift knob (in deference to my advancing age) but i am concerned about the "feel" of the harder wood wheel and not sure how to try it out? Thoughts?

If you already have two Honda's and you are planning to buy/lease through Acura financial I would think you would qualify for the loyalty rebate.

If a dealer says you don’t qualify make sure they aren’t playing games and actually putting in for the rebate and then pocketing it. I know of two people this happened to, not with Acura.

Here’s what I would do. If the dealer says you don’t qualify I would tell him that you want another $1,500 off the price, again never hurts to ask. If he comes back pretty quick and says the best he can do is $750 +/- off I bet he knows you qualify for the loyalty and is trying to keep some for the dealer.

As far as the wood steering wheel. IMO I don’t like it on the TL, I like the stock wheel better. But it’s your car so whatever makes you happy.

You might want to message member KeithL, he's been doing a lot of TL shopping lately and has gotten some very aggressive offers.

Thanks, I am pushing for the loyalty
As to the wood grain, a part of me likes the look and a part says do without. its about 800 for both-- maybe I should save it for the premium fuel...

Keep up the pressure on loyalty. You have nothing to lose, but everything to gain if you can succeed.

IMO I just don't like the wood grain look in the TL, especially the tech cars and for $800 I really don't like it..LOL.

But it's your car and your money so whatever makes you happy is what you should do.

Good Luck

First $37K for AWD tech is a good deal. There is $3500 in potential dealer incentives, $2000 for anyone then $1500 for loyalty or conquest. I believe if you go,to Acura's web site you can see what qualifies for loyalty, I do believe it has the be an Acura product. Even though it is Honda company they treat the 2 brands separately. Invoice on the Tech is $40,450 + 895 destination so $37,149 seems like a good deal, also the loyalty cash requires you finance through Acura for at least 24 months. There may be other incentives I can't find, also the TL inventory is building up at some dealers, so they dealer may be actually taking some loss to hit his numbers. I love pushing for the best deal, but I also have decent relationship with the dealer so I try not to push too far because they often just throw me the keys of anything I want to test drive and just let me take it out unescorted.

One thing I will say is the $2000 incentive is not well documented this month and it is possible they bumped that up to $3000.

One thing that turned me off about the Lexus GS has a wood steering wheel, and I feel like I can't get the same solid grip on a wood wheel. Personally I love wod in my M, but the TL to me it does not go, as the to me th TL has a sporty techie interior.

Thanks all for all the input. Put my deposit down today. Going to have splash guards installed as part of the deal. Decided against the wood grain-- funny the base has wood accents and I think that's why it was in my mind to consider adding the wood grain accessories to mine. But the tech has no wood grain and I am in agreement with all u guys-- This forum is great I have learned a ton reading it and look forward both to picking up the car and reading this forum

Yep it'll be Monday or Tuesday. They have to swap with another dealer to get the color combo. Can't wait!

Picked up the car yesterday-- worth the wait! Black, Umber, Tech. I stayed with the stock wheel and shift knob and I think they look great. I had the splash guards installed- my other car is white (Solara convertible-- I know a "chick" car but not too many convertibles fit my frame) and the crap that accrues on the rear 1/4 is amazing (never could find splash guards for a 2008 Solara and not handy enough to craft them myself). I went with door edge guards over the film on the advice of the salesman. Anyway all the advice here was great and looking forward to many miles of fun, the car is awesome and a real step up up for me- and I think it looks better than the boss' new 5 series bimmer which I park next to each morning!
