So my '09 TL w/Tech is in the shop and...
they put me in a '12 TL w/tech package and they're almost identical. There's 3500 miles on it, mine has almost 40K and I almost prefer to drive mine more.
Partially because I have the SRI which gives it an edge performance wise and sound, but I seriously thought I would be blown away with some new features but they're almost exactly the same!
Of course the '12 has the new car smell but I must say that mine with 40K is just as good, if not better (as mentioned above).
Just thought I'd share. I'd be willing to buy another TL but I'll probably wait until the 5th generation comes out.
Thoughts?

I too have an '09 and had an '11 as a loaner for 2 days - same exact car as mine (feature wise), just "new." I came away w/ the same conclusion - great car, but I'm going to wait until a 5g comes out before I get rid of my '09.
I did like how the moon roof buttons were seperate though - instead of just being one button that slides back and forth or gets pressed in, it was 3 seperate buttons.

Do some freeway cruising, you'll notice a difference. I also found the '12 to be a bit quieter and has better steering feel.

12's are quieter and more fuel efficient.
but as far as performance edge.. and i hate to beat it with a stick.. your intake that you put on gives it no more of a performance edge than a 12' model.. if anything it robs some performance out of it..

Dropped my car at the dealer on Monday and they gave me a 2012 TL w/ Tech package loaner that had 1400 miles on it. Since I have the AWD I couldn't do a direct comparison. I liked the 6-speed auto and the headlights, other than that there was no major difference for me. I took it out on the Beltway to get home and later to go back to the dealer. Honestly I didn't notice much difference in the ride quality or noise. Sure it was a little better with bumps. Definitely nothing that made me want to get rid of mine. And whether I am in the minority or not, I still prefer the grill/beak on mine to the muted down 2012 version. Hopefully the 5G will have something that makes me want to get one. Only have 13k miles on mine after 20 months, the benefits of working from home.

Why does it matter what we think? As long as all your friends agree with you that's all that matters.

I have car ADD

this thread is full of fail.... as usual
its the same DAMN car.....IN FACT the 12 is a little quicker off the line, because of the 6spd transmission and different gear ratios
The Takeda SRI doesn't give power... it takes it away.... it might put up better numbers on a dyno, but it holds the gears longer, which actually makes the car slower.

Eazy, everytime I read your posts I think of...I'm Ron Burgundy??
I've noticed a few small differences between the '12 and '10 when I have the loaner. One of which is the texture of the material inside. In my '10 the part that wraps around the dash, onto the doors and down to the gear shifter is textured...it's smooth on the '12. I prefer the former as small of a change as it is.

And kinda another note, I actually wanted to get my '09 back compared to the ZDX I had the previous time at the dealership.
The TSX, same thing. Just sayin'....

I noticed that too. All I'm saying is there isnt much of a difference from '09 and '12. I actually wanted to get my car back asap.

So EasyRider, where are you going with this? Just random thought about the loaner vs. your 4G?

your '09 is faster than the '12 because you WANT it to be faster. It's the same car.
Might as well say a car is faster because you added a sticker. SRI's are worthless performance "upgrades". Sound is the only thing it adds..

Yes, my thoughts were just random. I was just giving my POV. And I'm saying that "I" feel my '09 w/SRI is a better performance wise than the '12 I just had for 24 hours.
I just was looking for some thoughts and comments, thats all. Nothing more, nothing less.
