Angry So I come home from work today and....

So I get home from work today and I park my old acura in the private garage in my apt complex. Im walking by my 09 TL that I had parked right next to where I just parked my old acura and I notice that something wasnt right with my car. I creep closer and....

Some asshole backed their car into mine while I was at work!

I have scratches on my bumper, a cracked diffuser, and a broken license plate frame.

They didnt bother to leave any of their insurance info or contact info. I think I know who did it, cops talked to them when I filed a report to make an insurance claim. That person denied it even though theres white paint from what seems to be my car on their rear bumper. Cop told me nothing I can do because theres no real evidence of that particular car being the one that hit me. None of their paint was left on my car. Nothing!

People who do this and dont leave any info behind are pure sh*tholes. And I cant believe this happened in my own parking garage in my apt complex while I was at work. Time for me to rent a house with my own garage.

Just be aware of clumsy idiots I guess...

Anyway, here are the pics

So sorry you are going Thru this, I got hit twice in the garage i park my car. The first time who ever hit me really did a number on it, the second time that person scratched the rear bumper really bad, The person got caught on video. I called my insurance company and i told them there was evidence that this guy hit me but the garage refused to give a copy to the insurance so it was my loss.

That is surely upsetting.
Wait until you get hit by a 17 year old, without insurance, who was busy texting someone about her life crisis of what someother girl said about her outfit, when she ran the redlight. That will make you too want to outlaw phones, texting, teenagers, and all other drivers.

Sorry to hear about it, but it does not look too bad.

I agree with your comments on people who do this. A couple of summers ago we were staying overnight at a hotel in Indianapolis while traveling for vacation. When we went to the lot to leave the next morning (at 7 am) the front of my wife's Accord was smashed in to within centimeters of the radiator, the hood was buckled up and the bumper was hanging. Some a-hole in a big Dodge SUV or pickup who was parallel parked in front of us the previous evening must have just full-throttled in reverse into the front of our car. Of course, no note, no nothing. And to add insult to injury, the hotel (leading national chain) would not cooperate by looking at their security camera feeds or registration information to help identify the cretins who did it.

Good luck with the repairs. (The good news is our Accord turned out good as new, some 3K in repairs later). Yours will be fine too.

Very sorry to hear about that. I know just how you feel. Some years ago I had a car I was very fond of at a local repair shop. Someone crashed into the side of the car. No one saw anything and the repair shop said they were not responsible! So I understand where you are coming from. I'm sure you will have the car as good as new in no time.

Happens to the best of us.
We had a little old lady hit ours, got it fixed. Then it got hit in the exact same spot when we parked in long term parking at the airport that same year. Still haven't fixed it, AGAIN >

stp2585...I will add my name to those wishing you the "oh my god I am so sorry" feeling at you. It really sucks that people can be so disrespectful and not own up to their mistake. For me, if someone came to me and apologized for hitting my car, I'd appreciate it so much and although inside, I'd be mad as hell, I'd be appreciative of the fact that they had the kindness to tell me.

The same thing happened to a friend of mine the other day and the same outcome, no one has come forward and take responsibility. The world is full of COWARDS!

Sorry man. You would appreciate the person owning up to hitting your car,
and i bet the guilty party would sleep better at night knowing they did the right thing by admitting the error.

People are real assholes nowadays. My recent issues have taken place in parking lots where it was clearly the other persons fault and then you call the cops and they tell you: Well it took place in a parking lot so it's up to the insurance companies to figure it of. What a bunch of crap that is.

And my friends think I'm crazy because I strategically park; far away from everyone, taking two spots, under light posts and if possible in line of sight of security cameras . I actually pay for two spots in my parking garage so no one parks next to me and if someone does even partially park in either of my "vacant" spots I'll T bone style park right up to their bumper so they can't leave until I move.

OP-sorry to hear about this. as much as a pain it will be to get it fixed...it can be fixed and be good as new.

hearttls-i'm all for strategically parking. my TL was hit in a parking lot in the rear qtr...paint scrapes, soft ball size ding....i was pissed. no note. so now i'm REALLY careful about where i park and where i take my car. my neighbor's tree also dropped a branch on my car (a rather large one) during a wind storm. this is why we have insurance...for the morons that can't man up and take responsibility for their actions..and for acts of mother nature we can't control.

Reason I'm so anal about parking is because in NYC unless you're an enthusiast that loves his/her car, we're already mentally trained to accept having chipped up bumpers, racing stripes (curtesy of d-bags keys) and dents everywhere. I have something very similiar to the "bumper badger", called "bumper bully" (rear) and "bump shox" (front) and while they're good it by no means makes your bumpers impervious to paint chipping since most the protection they provide is if someone hit your front/rear with their front/rear head on. If someone were to attempt to squeeze in/out thinking they've cleared your bumper they'll still scrape you up. The "bumper blocker" can prevent 2nd scenario but it's easy to steal and annoying to take out and put on; and yes crackheads in NY will cut the straps and steal your bumper protector lol.
