Small crack on my windshield

Great, I got hit by a small debris on a freeway.

x2. The windshield is dual layer, sound insulated, and something like 5 mils thick. It can't be cheap.

In Kentucky, your insurance provider is required to replace this if a glass professional deems it necessary, at no expense to you, including no deductible. I'd check you state rules / insurance policy on this - and then make sure whatever they replace it with is factory glass if required.

This has caused the insurance companies to pressure most glass places into repair instead of replacement here.

If at all possible you want to have the windshield repaired. I have had 2 vehicles that had chips/small crack in the windshield and had them repaired.
My opinion is that there is nothing more important than keeping the original windshield in a car from the factory if possible. No leaks no problems (safety). I know that windshield technology has come a long way but that is still my take on it.
It is a lot cheaper to have repaired than replaced as well. I have dealt with Safelite Auto Glass in my area with good results.
