Small $800 summer budget how should I spend it.

Guys/Gals -
I have around $800 bucks to spend on my car this summer. 800 meaning 650-700 that I can stretch to 800 (not interested in more expensive options). Looking for suggestions.

2011 TL SH-AWD completely stock at the moment. I'm going for looks at the moment since the car is new to me and I'm happy with the performance (for now).
Need to pick one.. open to other suggestions also.
- Tein Advance Z
- OEM Lip Kit
- Get the Beak and rear trim painted

Thanks!

I'd lower the car first

I agree with Nitin, the coilovers are definitely the way to go!

For the price there really isn't anything better then Tein (that we've experienced). They offer a comfortable ride with improved performance, and the longevity of them is great!

You can see them on our online store here: GSB96-2USS2 - TEIN Dampers - Street Advance - Excelerate's Honda & Acura Store - Japanese Performance Specialist

Good luck!

IMO it'd be either the Lip kit or the suspension. The kicker with suspension is that you'll want new wheels soon to help make the car look nicer!

All of those are good options. The first thing I went with was the color match grill/rear trim because it makes such a difference for a relatively low price.

i went with tints, led drls, morimoto fogs, switchbacks, license plate, trunk, and reverse leds, and wrapped the grill and rear trunk trim and roof spoiler...all under your budget and everything looks great.

From what I've been reading in this forum, save it to replace your $1,000 propeller shaft with a bearing that has a high propensity to fail.

My state is weak. Not allowed to have any tint at all on Front windows. Would be a remove/inspect/re-tint thing every year and rolling the windows down when passing cops. Neh

First I'm hearing of this. I'll do some searching on the topic. Thanks for bringing it up.

Lip kit, then go suspension. TL though looks good stock is not sporty without the kit.

He's right, if I saw a TL that was 100% stock but noticeably lowered I would think that the car was confused.

My personal projects this summer are to hard wire my dash cam and to do the DIY TLX weather/sound stripping mod that someone mentioned in a different thread. I'm guessing you can do both for around $150 ish?

Don't spend the money, save it! If you don't really have something that you must get, why try to find something for a machine that's already perfect? Especially you only have a few hundreds.

Outside of either that drop or lip kit, saving for that propeller shaft failure sucks but is not that bad of an idea. However my dealer did cover it under the 7 year/70k mile warranty.

I'm dropped and without a lip kit, but I don't think my car looks confused.

Either drop or lip kit will drain the 800$ you want to use, or you color match grille, rear window spoiler, tint the thing.

Personally, I went coils first.

The thing is that if it is completely stock then it could be confusing for people who may think its sitting low due to being owned by a family of fat people.
